Hmm.

In essence Ang was right on this issue.

It was a horrible thing they did.

Whether it was absolutely necessary to sack them all to save the business who knows- the government at the time were extremely critical and challenged them.

All that said, being in opposition is clearly very different to being in government; and language needs to be more considered.

4 and a half years, Boby,  4 and a half years.

The latest date of the next election is actually August 2029. So over five years. 5 years of you posting the same thing. Nothing changes. 😊

Maybe this government shouldn’t have invited them to the summit then but they did. Ang. and Haigh have put paid to that.

We haven’t had a budget yet. Any economic success or failure is down to the last government.

So we can neither criticise nor praise Labour for anything that’s happening right now?

Well that’s a refreshing admission

On the economy? No.

Yeh but Rayner said that was a bad thing to do with a northern lisp

You’ve missed the point. Were the government right in inviting them or is Rayner right in mouthing off with a lisp?
Either way, it’s not a good look and another cock up. Rayner is slowly being marginalised. Unfortunately for Starmer, she won’t be moved on as easily as Gray.

How much does it cost to buy a politicians silence ? Article says they are delaying announcement not cancelling the investment.

Are we meant to get angry about the Govt calling out bad practice by corporates ? As I say what is the cut off ? How much do you have to be investing for the Govt to turn a blind eye ?

Rayner isn't slowly being marginalised, she's rapidly been marginalised

She has a propensity to put her foot in it, but DP World haven't pulled their investment because of what she's said

Who knows. I posted what I read. There are other reports.

Of the two, it's probably Haigh who went a bit too far by suggesting people should boycott P&O

It's not a great thing to say when your own Government is courting their investment, and in that respect she and some of her colleagues would do well to recognise the need to be a tad more diplomatic now they're no longer in opposition

But regardless, the investment has been paused because of the incoming change to employment law

Various sources say cancelled. Time will tell.

Who knows.

If I were in charge of a company looking for an excuse to pull investment because I didn't want to be forced by law to pay staff a living wage from December, I'd probably pin the blame on what Rayner and Haigh said as well

It wouldn't be true, though

Come on Boby, you know as well as all of us the reason for the headlines of these papers.

The issue these days is the tail wagging the dog, we have completely lost impartial and quality journalism in this Country.
