Spider Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 God help Bolty’s neighbours when he finds out we’ve lost the Chagos Islands. what will we do without them and their input? Quote

The BBC has had issues for years being too close to the Conservatives, all of the main papers are right leaning (Guardian and Mirror aside - but the Mirror has the digital presence of a dead tramp and the circulation of Bolty's arteries) The owners of most media are right leaning - of course they are - and they love the idea that the population swallow the myth that the multi billionaire media owners are the bastions of truth. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00237q8 It is worth listening to this brilliant podcast ‘when it hits the fan’ which is essentially about Al Fayad and Murdoch but brilliantly portrays how the media is so right wing. Max Clifford also gets a mention, the bent bastard. Quote

The 'establishment' feared Truss and banded together to destroy her. Some really good ideas based on sound conservative principles but of course the cattle will be led by the nose by the self interested herder. You lot really deserve all you get and you will certainly get it under this lot which 35% of you elected. Her "sound conservative principles" are currently costing me about £400 a month in extra mortgage payments. Quote

This is the thing about the people that swallow the lies (and they are lies) Truss perpetuates. They simply aren't 'conservative' principles as we know them based on what the party would say is prudent fiscal mangement and upholding of traditions. Truss (and her ilk - Patel, Raab, Skidmore, Kwarteng) were allowed for a very short time to put the principles they laid out in Britaannia Unchained - which is a very extreme version of free market economics (its worth a read I promise) which whilst in principle look reasoned but they are based on the fact that the UK is full of lazy, work-shy tits watching TV all day and eating junk food and this is because of too much state intervention and waaaaaay too much government regualtion which doesn't free up enterprise - and basically we should be more like Asia - free trade states all over the shop. Taking this slightly flimy premise to one side (and ignoring the structual problems with this argument alone), taking this from what is essentially a university-style debating premise and trying to implement some of these ideas in just over two weeks of being PM was absolutley reckless and its no surpise the markets were spooked. There isn't a cabal, there isn't a secret society, there isn't global conspiracy. There is just simple human error, incompetence and hubris from people who were quite frankly clever enough to know better. Quote

But did she accept any Taylor Swift tickets? 🤔 Only the odd £15,000 on food and booze for a flight to Australia and didn't she have a set-to with the cabinet office over her bill at her grace and favour, Chevening? The odd thing about all this expenses thing is not its lack of importance but how badly the Labour party have handled dealing with it. I'm a bit baffled by the really bad comms, regardless of the media that's gunning for them. Quote

Looking forward to my 15% increase next year though when your promised land becomes a reality comrade! 😁👍 Quote

Junior doctors and other getting 15% and 22% etc. and you grunts a measly 5.5%. It's just not cricket. Missus has an old bed sheet she doesn't want, I have half of an Episcopalian Puce spray can in the garage and I'm sure my mate Hymie Goldberg up the street has a Palestinian flag I can borrow.
