gonzo Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Im pretty sure you can be far left and still not think it's a good idea to have boat loads of Vietnamese and Albanians turning up on a beach every day. Quote

I'm left of centre and I agree, it's not the best idea. But rather than just saying no, we need to tackle the issue properly which hasn't been done here since Brexshit. Perhaps pay the people smugglers a wage to stop people crossing? Quote
BobyBrno Posted November 5 Posted November 5 An interesting read about the suspension of Schengen borders and the reasons. Identifying and accepting that there is a problem is the first step. https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen-borders-and-visa/schengen-area/temporary-reintroduction-border-control_en Quote

Folk seem to want to turn you in to some far right gammon for suggesting it needs to stop and a large portion of those coming over are part of bigger problem. I'm all for helping Folk, but christ it's way beyond that now. It's a full blown business. We've got people who just refuse to accept its an issue. We both know a lad who wants to use these migrants to sort our aging population issues. Economic migrants fine. Folk fleeing war torn countries fine. Folk sent by criminal gangs on boats to exploit our system not fine. Quote

The theme on here last night was that these people are in need of help and are being stopped from working. I'm saying shit loads of Vietnamese cannabis farmers aren't here to mop floors in a hospital. Quote

gonzo Posted November 5 Posted November 5 The conversation was about double standards and folk being OK with Ukraine refugees and not the boat people. I'm saying the boat problem is a lot more troublesome than the Ukrainians landing here for reasons clear as day. But some refuse to accept to like to downplay those reasons. Quote

Have a read through last night's posts. The suggestion was that they are here to start picking fruit for a living and are being denied work. Im saying broadly that isn't the case. Quote

But earlier you differentiated between economic migrants, refugees, and those being sent by gangs to exploit our system? Who suggested those "sent by gangs to exploit our system" are here to pick fruit? Quote
