Mounts Kipper Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) Let’s be proud of our history and use it as motivation towards our future. We’ve had a shit 5 years, but if we can stay up and consolidate as a solid championship team.  Then you have to say big investment will be inevitable.  There is a lot of clubs getting taken over at the moment, and we will need it to compete on the other side of the Championship. Exactly we are too quick to dumb our club down it's a trait I find common with Bolton folk when we should be shouting our proud history and record as KA would say loud and proud. Self deprecation seems part of the Notlob psyche. ???? Edited October 17, 2017 by Mounts Kipper Quote

famouswanderer Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 and if players wont sign 'sensible contracts' that's when the fun begins  i do feel that there is so much money swilling about now, that clubs can make money  Then dont sign them.  Go down take the tv money for a season, take the parachute payments, try go back up again Quote

Carlos Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Surely if ancient history was such a big deal, Blackburn Rovers with 6 FA Cups would be top of the list of clubs you'd buy right now? Quote
Traf Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Surely if ancient history was such a big deal, Blackburn Rovers with 6 FA Cups would be top of the list of clubs you'd buy right now? Â And a relatively recent Premier League Quote
Zico Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I remember years ago, people said that they would be worried if we got taken over by foreign investors, as we could be in the shit if they got bored and dropped us..........it's better to have a "local lad" own the club who won't get bored...that ended well didn't it  was about to post the same, doesn't matter where they are from, they will all get bored or decide to pack in at some point - KA may as well be from overseas, he's not from Bolton, so why should he care? same with Mike Ashley, couldn't really be less detached from Newcastle these days  that said, the likes of us, Wigan, Blackburn, Newcastle and Palace had their best days in recent history under the leadership of a local owner so there maybe something to be said, but other teams are doing perfectly well with foreigners in charge, and our local lad isn't as popular as he once was  in summary, doesn't really matter where they are from, if they've got cash and go for it - worry bout the rest later Quote
L/H White Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Silly boy, never going to get a bite on that comment.  it's true though  achieved much more than us in recent years and they will continue to do so  times change pal Quote
jturner Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Blackburn attracted a foreign owner possibly due to the success they had under Jack Walker, they even paid £8 million for Jordan Rhodes as a second tier club It's just that their managerial appointments have been about as successful as Eddie Davies's last 4. Quote

CMW Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Doubt it would need new bigger stadium what would that cost? That's a fair point, but maybe extending their current place would do.Bournemouth is only a small stadium. Burton is in a central location with Stoke the only premier club nearby. With investment they have quite a decent catchment area to support progression Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Derby County were the natural affiliation of Burtononians when Burton Albion were mickey mouse  I lived there for a while ,knew plenty Derby fans & no Albion fans.  Not far from Stoke though. Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) Ps it's also a shithole. Three breweries, two rubber factories & a population that grow their own spuds Premier league my arse. Edited October 17, 2017 by Take Hunt Off Quote
