MalcolmW Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Where's Jeremy up to on this Still bleating we jumped the gun and the russkies aren't getting a fair trial? We had a tragic fire with 71 deaths plus hundreds homeless. Nine months on the inquiry grinds slowly on. 'Justice' will take longer. In Russia a tragic fire kills 64 and two days later Putin is denouncing criminal negligence. Unfortunately those to be convicted may or may not truly bear responsibility. Quote
tomski Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 She got the gig because Dave displayed a complete lack of testiclesif the referendum had gone the other way she wouldn’t be PM regardless of David’s go nads Quote
tomski Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 May has done very little wrong. Whoever took on Brexit was in a no win situation. She's played a blinder getting so many countries onside regarding the Salisbury attack. Except lose a majority government when it was nigh on impossible Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Except lose a majority government when it was nigh on impossible She increased the party’s vote, mind But the mistake was in calling the election Quote
tomski Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 She increased the party’s vote, mind But the mistake was in calling the election It was like they were trying to lose. A dreadful campaign. If they were trying to lose then they ballsed that up too???? Quote
MalcolmW Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 She's piss weak. There are quite a few things she might be, but weak isn't one of them. Quote
mickbrown Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 if the referendum had gone the other way she wouldn’t be PM regardless of David’s go nads True. Still doesn't alter the fact the chinless twat is devoid of said items Quote

Underpants Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) The problem is the alternatives on either side are equally as grim. Not one stands out Exactly. Being PM isn't a popularity contest. You could compare May tenure to Parkinson's. Not the best, or the one many would have gone for, but took the job knowing the extremely difficult circumstances involved; and has just pulled out a great result against Russia. Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Well put undies. Some difficult situations at the moment for anyone. Quite a refreshing change from smart suits and spin. Not inspirational and maybe a bit dour, but so long as the job gets done then it won't matter. Quote

MalcolmW Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 What jobs are getting done though? Well for a start the Pre-Release Access to statistics has been sorted. Once upon a time only the Chancellor and PM of the day had PRA. Then it was extended to other treasury ministers, then their spads, all other cabinet ministers, and then their spads. In the end over 100 people had access. Some of tem had mates who could make a large amount, both in cash and kudos, in knowing that inflation was going to be a single point higher or lower than expectations. After he was sacked by May, GeorgeO picked up £50K per month for one day's work a week at Blackrock. I don't know why they were so generous. Of course May's husband works in the City, but she is scrupulously honest. Remember she didn't even tell him when Leadsom rang her to say she was withdrawing from the leadership race, because Leadsom was just about to tell the world. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 What jobs are getting done though? The job of being pm? Hugely impressed with her performance over the Russian situation, especially with the appeaser opposite. Quote
madthatter Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 The job of being pm? Hugely impressed with her performance over the Russian situation, especially with the appeaser opposite. Have to admit she's done a very satisfactory job there; can't help feeling that it wouldn't take much for the rest of the world (pretty much), certainly Europe, to make a stand against Russia at the minute though. Still, every credit. Quote
tomski Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 The job of being pm? Hugely impressed with her performance over the Russian situation, especially with the appeaser opposite. Fair comments. I think as mad hatter points out it’s more how the other countries have supported. It has been a job well done. I take Malcolm’s points about honesty and normally they are my kind of people but I can’t warm to her. A very tough gig but i fear she won’t be looked back on fondly Quote

A very tough gig but i fear she won’t be looked back on fondly That's fair enough, but kind of what I'm saying; we've had Blair and Cameron who offered a lot of style and charm etc but question marks over their legacy. With things as they are, as you say a tough gig, I'm quite happy to have a dullard just doing "politics". Seeing the body language and comments from Juncker a few months back I get the impression there's a bit of respect for her amongst other politicians etc. May prove vital, we'll find out in the next couple of years. bolty58 Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 She was handed one of the most difficult jobs imaginable - to complete something that she was actually against. Bearing in mind all she has had to handle, she has done remarkably well and at the end of her tenure (or some time after) she will likely be recognised as a good 'un (but never by red rag supporters of course). madthatter Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 (edited) From a few weeks ago but not exactly heartwarming - the audience clapping the impending end of the world like seals at feeding time. Has it really come to this? There are no right or wrong camps here; and bizarrely, the only sane words I've heard on the whole thing is from yon wig mon Trump stating that war with Russia and China is not an option. The more I think about it, why the fcuk are we prodding the Bear? Edited April 9, 2018 by madthatter Quote
