Site Supporter Alf Hartigan Posted June 6, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted June 6, 2019 I take felopidine every day (2.5mg) Was shocked when I was told I had it 2 years ago, never taken a tablet previously. Do I feel better for it, not sure, but been back for a test and it's under control. Got to take the tablets forever, but I forget occasionally and don't feel any different

kent_white
Don't underestimate how effective diet and exercise is in reducing your BP. If you can get it right and do it regularly - you can smash it. My job revolves around it and I see it everyday.
isaacunt
I take amplodomine 5mg every day & like Alf, I'm on em for life. I was very over-weight when I got diagnosed, but with a ickle help with exercise & a change in my diet (not my alcohol) I have it under control & quite a Few pounds lighter. I do feel a lot better for it though.

TroySwoosh
Ramipril here too, 2.5mg per day, should've been increased but not gone back yet, hoping more exercising can keep it in check

H
Didn't realise I had high blood pressure until I went for a pre-op assessment. Got put on a course of ramipril which brought it down and been on them ever since.

Do they work differently, or for different symptoms? There's various different types that work in different ways - some work better for high blood pressure caused by different factors. They all have different side effects too so some aren't suitable for people with certain existing conditions or risk. Do some exercise, cut down on the salt, lose some weight if you need to, try to quit if you smoke and be sensible with the booze. Do those things with your meds and you'll smash it! Yeah you don’t have to put up with the ACE Inhibitor cough. Ask for a different one eg lisinopril and try that or do as Micky says and ask for a “sartan” Ive found best way is low doses of two drugs combined so I’m on both lisinopril and felodopine at their lowest doses. No side effects and good BP control

As for "sartan" I thought he was an intellectually gifted poster on here!
