Then why do the Public believe the Government ? All they ever do is Lie. Johnson got sacked twice for Lying. There are literally hundreds of lies on record that have come from the mouths of this Governments MPs, and just in the last year.

You'll have to ask them.

When the government announced 100k tests per day that included tests to show people who had had the virus. I know that has proven unreliable but the 100k has so much focus. I am not sure anyone knows what to do with 100k test results per day.

Hancock said that wasn't the case when questioned. Was all meant to be testing for those who have it now.

The antibody test wasn't and still isn't viable, so can't see why he would have pinned his hopes to that anyhow.

I think/hope the capacity will be critical for the next phase

He's a massive cunt is Cummings. Fancy pushing for this.........

Note: I do actually think he's a cunt, but I'll be fair when I can.....

so we are saying it was the scientists who wanted to let herd immunity develop, and it was the government who wanted that to change to lockdown earlier ?

The question is should a key government advisor be so involved in a scientific advisory group meeting ?

Do you think we were right tolockdown when we did rather than a few days later ?

We should have locked down earlier IMO. However, Are you happy that the government were actively participating with an independent advisory group?

If it saves lives, yes.

I assume you take the approach that its independence is more important than the results ?

They can overrule any scientific group, that is fine if they believe it is correct and will save lives. However, it appears that Cummings was influencing SAGE and that cannot be right.

I'd be a bit more concerned that it appears that the Science experts didnt think lockdown was necessary.

I guess we all use own our biases to see whats important or not.

But as its an anonymous source, I would take it with a pinch of salt.

I get the concern if he's perceived to have led discussion but from what's been posted here:

Quote

At the March 18 meeting, Cummings asked probing questions such as why the government should wait until the following week to impose a lockdown rather than doing so earlier, according to one of the people. He also said the public should not be allowed to leave work on March 20 and go to the pub afterward. The government ultimately told pubs and clubs to close on that day, before imposing a fuller lockdown that shuttered most shops on March 23.

One attendee at the meeting described feeling uncomfortable that the panel with Cummings’s input was taking more of a decision-making approach than simply drawing up options and giving advice to ministers. The attendee added, however, that it was also a relief that Cummings had pushed for a lockdown because there were concerns that politicians had not fully understood how serious the coronavirus emergency had become.

I'm glad he attended. I'm all for preserving SAGE as a scientific advisory group untainted by politics, but the ultimate aim is for govt to take the right decisions and if no-one else is asking probing questions there I'm glad someone did, because they sound like very sensible questions  to ask.

The key point though is that concern about politicians not understanding how serious things were, that's precisely the argument for having someone sit in who knows how to communicate with them in language they'll understand.
