Precisely...new territory and acting on expert advice but folk were quick on here with their "expert" advice.

Well I'm not one of them. There will be an enquiry after this is all over, as there should be after an event of this kind, and if serious errors were found to have been made (i.e. not just ones where with the benefit of hindsight things could've been done differently) then I expect they'll be dealt with then.

Until that time comes, I'm content for the Government to keep doing what they're doing and see where we end up once it's all blown over, specifically because we can't be yet certain about what the data we have means. I'd just rather they'd have been clearer / up front about what their target of 100,000 tests per day meant.

wasn't half of the town in Lancs and half in Yorks, and then it was all moved to Yorks? - isn't it something to do with the river, that is generally thought of as the boundry between the two counties?

I inderstand its a culvert that forms the border

Half my factory is lancs, half is durty durty yerksher

Come on. Did you listen to the briefing, or read the article in the HSJ?

On no planet does doing 80k tests and putting 40k more in the post = carrying out 120k tests.

If this had always been the methodology and everyone was clear on it - why would it take an article from an unnamed source in the HSJ (which a few on here immediately dismissed) for it to come to light?

Spot on

Let's post out 500k tomorrow

We won't be able to process them but who cares

It's half a million

The amount of 'Home Test Kits' that are coming back as "inconclusive" due to not being used properly is going to be an issue very soon... It's WELL over 50%. They're basically a waste of time and money in their current form.

If you’re planning to go to the tip today and you’re not already queuing, don’t bother. I’m 5th I the queue and got here at 7:20 and the queue is already snaking back up the room.

Anyone planning on going to the tip when it reopens be prepared for a long wait. There are signs along Manchester Road. As far as Green Lane in one Direction and Burnden in the other.
2 hour waiting time on one sign. Only plastic bags with household waste on another and car registration restrictions. ie. even numbers one day (MA52 TIP) odd numbers the next (MA51 TIP)

Sure this will be confirmed officially somewhere.

No access from St Peters way in both directions. Slip road closed.

The two-metre rule is reportedly due to be reviewed after growing evidence that it's not necessary. That will probably help a lot of businesses, and particularly schools.

Evidence from where?

the distancing seems to be Rule 1 everywhere

Yes, the elastic had started to perish, so they don't stay on as they should
