The scientists advise the government that folk will die, we need to protect the vulnerable, we need to let some people get infected, we need to use test, track, and trace to try to get a grip on it. Government agree and say this is the way they are going to go. The NHS (organisation not nurses, doctors etc) announce they are going to do 10000 tests a day, at this point they've done 1500 in total. The day after the government who realises that is pie in the sky introduces self isolation guidance. The government have to then try to balance people dying, the economy and country going into freefall, social unrest and so on and make the decision to try to get as close to the Easter holidays as they can before shutting the schools which they see as the final part before lockdown. When we go into lockdown is that when week 1 starts? The NHS claim for 10000 tests a day was made on March 11th and they hit the target consistently for 7 days in a row in the week leading up to April 21 I think. Quote

Suspect not. We are basically on a war footing so whilst they should be scrutinised, they should also be cut much more slack than usual when dealing with this particular enemy.
