30 weeks redundancy and 12 weeks notice?

If hes older than you, thatll take him to retirement :)

There was an article last weekend in the Express.

Basically calling most UK employees lazy workshy bastards who are playing the virus.  Happily sat at home collecting 80% and using every excuse they can not to return.

Those who are "working" use the excuse that It isn't safe to go into the Office, but its OK to go to the beach etc of course. Doing a couple of e-mails & not even changing out of their dressing gown all day if its raining.

Society has accepted this attitude for years & the economy will now pay for it.

Most will go from furlough to the dole queue when end of October comes and the Govt hand-outs stop.

Sad but true.

I'd fucking gladly go back to the office if we were allowed to. Be sending emails in my dressing gown until after Christmas, apparently.

Very happy the gyms are being allowed to open again, our crosstrainer broke down weeks ago. I look like bloody Steve McNulty.

He’s 52. Bad age to be made redundant.

Unless you want to work at B & Q.

Just about to say that

limited options I would think

Honest, it depends what he's after

He's still got 15? Years to offer to an employer

Nah, love a Nando's, but for what it is, it has gone a bit expensive.

In fairness, I've only been twice, and each time I've been surrounded by screaming kids. As a chicory I don't get it though, as you have to write up to order. It's just like KFC, served on plates isn't it? , but without the nice gravy

If the cap fits wear it.

If it doesn’t then this article doesn’t apply to you, which begs the question why you replied in the first place.......

Go and write another book if you’re bored.

It is KFC/McDs with plates. It's the only place we used to take the kids when youngest was a baby and eldest was 4.

Not arsed about pissing every cunt off when chips are flying about at a nandos.

We've graduated to proper places now the youngest is nearly 3! 🤣

I think the safest approach is to assume you're wearing the mask to stop you giving it to others, that way you won't forget the other important things like social distancing, clean hands etc.

Obviously you'll need to carry a sword to ensure that others wear their masks. You knew that already.

Wearing a mask either makes you less likely to get the virus or it has no impact. So apart from looking and feeling like a twat, what is the downside ?

Yep I can’t argue with either of you to be honest. I’m a scientist at heart (and qualifications) so admit to being a pedant at times and like evidence to make decisions. It’s the way I am and I stand by it but recognise that, fair enough, I need to take a wider view

😀 Very far from bored or short of work, was just replying to a message on a discussion forum!

There will be many like myself who would like nothing more than to return to the office as soon as possible, giant arse shaped crater in my couch now. The hot desking and communal office environment we spent so much time and effort in creating might be a thing of the past already, though.

I got made redundant at 51 after getting a job that saved me after being made redundant at 48

Different times currently, obviously, and I took a 12 month hit on having no job, but I genuinely took the “fuck you, I’ve got years of experience and a younger, cheaper option won’t give you that” attitude. Took a while, a salary drop, and a less than ideal job but was stepping stone back to my current job which has got me back to where I want to be

Best advice I got was that it’s easier to get a new job while you already have one so don’t be too proud to go for jobs that are way from ideal but get you back in employment. May sound a bit glib but not meant to be

Hope he gets summat. Best of luck to him

Could be me soon. Getting bought out and the acquiring firm have announced 250 redundancies. Will find out if I'm up for the boot in a couple of weeks.

Been waiting for a pay off for years. Now it's here at the worst time known to man! 🤣

Be reet!

I do some grounds maintenance work for a businessman. He has struggled to get his workers to come back. At least one just fucked it off.

I then heard a businessman on the TV say a similar thing; the scheme was too generous.

I think it's wrong to label everyone as lazy etc, and I can understand concerns, but there does seem to be something in the claims.

Just shows what a bloody difficult job it's been for sunak to pilot the economy through such choppy waters.

I’ve said before I quit my job at 40 to go traveling round the world. When I came back I wanted summat different and started on 1/3 of what I was on before I left.  moved back up a bit and am now very happy but still on 1/2 what I was But I’m happier now than I’ve ever been.

it’s tough and redundancy isn’t ideal but it’s never too late to change jobs.

Thanks, mate.
I’m giving him a couple of days off then I’ll have a good chat with him.

You’re dead right about the experience thing. Hopefully he’ll stay positive and get lucky.

It’s a full time job, looking for a job.

Been made redundant twice.

Once after 16 years in same place about 18 years ago. Bucket load of cash. Brilliant.

Second time after 4 years in a job that I had to leave for tax reasons. Again worked out well.

Not worked for over a year. Can take Pension in less than a month. Just a bit bored.

Personally I’ve seen a fair few jobs posted in the past few weeks but a majority are unsociable hours

Got made redundant twice in 12 months or so back in 2002/03

Both times I got a better job

Honestly don't know anyone who's situation got worse, long term, post redundancy

That said, it wasn't during a pandemic

Good luck

15 quid for chicken and chips that you get yourself. Tremendous. I'd rather sup someone else's loose stool water.

I like the sauces and buy them when on special offer and add them to chicken at home. Other than that have been twice and both times was average. Same as five guys burgers. Overpriced Nonsense

You can make a full peri peri chicken and hundredweight of chips at home for £6.

using Nando’s branded marinades.

Chuck 4 Sagres in the mix and it’s a tenner

Proper stitch up those “restaurants “
