Was there not a pub near where the Volvo garage used to be? I did my work experience in that garage and seem to remember a pub nearby

I reckon it was where the bus stop is where it looks like buildings have been knocked down, and being by a bus stop is why I always noticed it and had a good look each time

anyone ever done a runner from one?

at uni in Sheffield, had a load of mates stay over after we played Sheff Utd one weekend, finished the session with a curry, I decided to leg it when the bill came, and everyone else followed (I lived literally around the corner, so the staff could've easily nabbed us had they followed)

some lads moaned that they'd already put their money down to the tune of about £30

transpired a few months later the last lad out the door had pocketed their money on his way out

Yeah what was that pub/restaurant down the valley Off Blackburn road  called?

Anyways 17 year old we heard that they wouldn’t ID anyone for beer as long as you got a meal. So we ordered the cheapest item on the menu each and just ordered beer after beer then starting getting giddy shots, bags of nuts and it was all on a tab.
The bill came over and it was looking at least £50 each. No one had that much money, so We bailed and legged it out one led fell over smashed two of his teeth out. That cost him best part of £200 and he’s been to India recently to have them permanently replaced that cost him £2k so really should have just paid.

A twatty move and something I cringe at now.

Think the Pavilion at Astley Bridge as been the best curry house in Bolton for a long time.

Used to go there a lot. Few good boozers down Blackburn road, end up in The Pavillion then back to the pineapple for the karaoke

And I didn't think it was a patch on the Bradshaw India gate

Spice valley near the pictures was really good, but an awful location

I've no issue with my Indians not being authentic, but I was assured by people who knew that spice valley was the real deal

My boss at the time booked it one Sunday for a birthday buffet

Superb, tasting all those different flavours

Back to my Madras next time out, though. :)

as for spice valley, is it the same people as the horwich one. Didn't the valley one up sticks to town, poss noble house and then shut?

Yeah the owners of Spice Valley own Noble House along with several other buildings in the town - they were behind the bow street car park redevelopment (that isn't happening currently) as well

There's an Italian restaurant in Noble House at the minute I think

Me brother had a takeaway from what used to be India Gate the other night and said he enjoyed it, they do like a click n collect service where they put the food in your boot when you pull up. Can't remember what it's called now, summat beginning with D.

It might have been nam ploy I was thinking of tbh. I know it's a well known restaurant

Dalchini

I can't take it serious since it split into 2

Odd arrangement but if you knew no different, it's probably not so strange

the best take away is spice island on tonge moor road, slightly dearer than most but the portions are massive and the currys are the best ive had in a long time, always busy 45 minutes for just a collection
