In essence it prevents fuel theft by drivers. One company bought one of the fuelling systems, about £10k had it fitted and then went bankrupt. My old man registered an interest and expected something like 5p in the pound. A few months later the company phoned my dad up complaining the equipment had stopped working and they’d like a service engineer to visit. Dad pointed out that he hadn’t sold the company anything so there was no warranty. The company tried to prove it was under manufacturers guarantee. They ended up given the choice of paying up or being unable to fuel their vehicles. That's brilliant 😁

Either way, they should out of courtesy told him it was running out.

Perhaps the provider tried to search, found it to be unused so sold it again. Either that or I misunderstood the Facebook post.

We were in dispute with main contractor on a scheme we did control system for refuelling light diesel trains (Network rail trying to clamp down on red diesel fraud). They wouldn't pay final account until Network Rail said system had gone down and Nottinghams trains were going to have to stop. We agreed to attend after docs signed off and turned out I was there all of 2 minutes before saw the "emergency stop operated lamp". All the mushroom heads at pumps been pressed by staff pissed at losing their free fuel.
Duck Egg
A lass I used to work with was going out with some Salford scrote who couldn't hold down a regular job. Her dad had a really lucrative business to do with advertising on public transport and took him on to help them out. A year or so later the lad left and set up a rival business under cutting his father in law left, right and centre. She sided with him and is now estranged from her dad. She posts lots of pics on Facebook of them on exotic holidays or in their enormous house. I suppose it's business but family should come first surely

My dad’s favourite sales pitch involved showing fleet managers the latest figures for numbers of diesel cars against petrol cars. I think at the time it was something in the region of 12-15% diesel. Then they’d go for a walk on the staff car park where diesel cars accounted for 60-70% of cars. Often the fleet manager would make excuses why his company didn’t want any security on the pumps; a sure sign he was involved in the fuel theft too. Any contract has terms of consideration, that is payment. If they are not paying then they are breaching the contract. If you are carrying out building type work then you can request an adjudication under the Construction Act which should cost very little as you don't need a lawyer. Just get in there, be hard faced and don't be shy is my advice regarding payment, I am now working into my 60s owing to cunts ripping me off when I didn't think it mattered

To invoice I need purchase order for each scheme. They all go together for one big invoice then that has to be signed off by about 3 million people before its released. Its a fucking nightmare just raising the PO nevermind actually waiting for the balance to be settled. 90 days payment on top of that obviously. Ace when it comes in like, but its more often than not been spent before it arrives
MancWanderer
Never been done myself but my Dad was done twice on a big scale First was Louis Edwards. Did him big time on a deal. His company fitted tannoy systems in sports grounds. Wish he was here now to ask but I suspect that he got the contract to replace the tannoy at Old Trafford, but can’t be certain, and then got done losing a shit load of money. For the most mild mannered man you could ever meet his bile and vitriol towards Man U was spectacular and beats anything that you could ever read on here Second time he set up a van hire company in Salford in the 70s. Backed by merchant bankers. Depots all over the North West. Massively successful. Fucking merchant bankers. Bent fucking cunts. Went bust and took his company with them. Bright orange vans. Stood out from the crowd. Anyone old enough might remember Salford Van Hire used to be blue. Overnight they changed their colour to bright orange as they picked the fucking corpse of my Dads company and bought all his vans and trucks for fuck all Bitter? Me? These days I really can't be bothered with all the cunts and now work for a previous competitor on a PAYE basis but he is getting fed up with me although I run a tight ship. As I've said previously never ever be afraid to ask for your money... you have earned it and you have mouths to feed.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted November 27, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted November 27, 2020 I reckon like Hoover became almost accepted as a catch-all for all vacuum cleaners and Portacabin for portable accommodation systems so Tannoy is a fairly widely used term for PA systems.
