Site Supporter Spider Posted December 3, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 3, 2020 My nephew has one, coat about £250 I think but he can attach his phone to it and take pictures and time lapse images. It’s really good - on a clear night he’s taken pictures of a few planets and some great close ups of the moon. He’s lucky as they live out in the countryside so there no light pollution, but even so they do get some great images of space. Worth spending some money on but make sure you get the phone cradle for taking pics.

We are relatively out in the sticks here, ace view from his window so would be perfect.

Get in the real countryside with the telescope, you see ten times more stuff.

My father in law is into his telescopes. I asked him if he could recommend one a few months ago, and he said there's not really much difference between all the different manufacturers - you basically get what you pay for, ie. the more you spend, the better the telescope. Members Rudy
My next door neighbour has one, I’m sure it’s just to perve on our Maude, I hear him mumbling when I let the dogs out for a last piss and the security light comes on for 5 mins 😁
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 3, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 3, 2020 Just chatted to my brother- he got one for my niece a few years ago. He went online to a British shop, and did a lot of research, refractive/reflective etc etc. They guide you through depending upon what you want to use it for. He can't remember the name of the website, but reckoned googling would find it. Just had a quick look and there seems to be a few places and also someone offering guidance. Might be worth a browse first.
