Thought that was a joke at first, but sure enough; every vehicle has the white 'Z' painted on the side.

The letter 'Z' is in danger of becoming the new Swastika (or "Swass Sticker" as Nadine Dorries calls it)...

Wish they’d stop asking for a no fly zone.

Perfectly understandable when civilian areas are being targetted. It's also perfectly understandable why it can't be done. Horrible situation.

In short.. (for people who don't want to watch).

3 Policemen (militay police?) Who were mobilised to manouvers on the Belarus border.

They were constantly moved around and given orders on the move all the way from Moscow and Western Russia.

They were told to mobilise and were given orders to go into Kiev and control the Ukrainians by any force nessacary, be it arrest, coercion or execution. These orders came from the very top, Putin. This was to support the Army.

They had no idea what was going on until they saw a video of a Boxer (assuming Klitchko) stating that they were unwanted invaders.

They won't want to fight, people back home have no idea and lots who do are ashamed.

There can be no victory for either party if this continues as Russians will no longer be willing to admit they are Russian and will affect them from now on.

Calls on Ukrainians to allow surrendered troops to return home so that they can tell people about what really happened, he knows what they did was wrong and the Russians have to live with that,

They were treated in Hospital and even then they were being bombed by Russians.

Oleksandr Usyk is mentioned too.

Bang on that, good essay.

it does “feel” like Ukraine have done a brilliant job against a piss poor Russian army.

The only obvious danger is Putin pushing the big red button, but I can’t honestly see that. He’ll look for a way out. He’s has definitely miscalculated the strength of his forces, but I imagine many observers have too.

Assuming you quoted the wrong post.

We manufacture with copper. Large amounts of which come from Russia and Ukraine.

The LME has gone fckin mental this week.

Things are going to get pretty bad if this drags on.

Should have stocked up earlier. Missed a trick there, sonny.

3 WW clichés in one short post there.

This is a good article, by an Emeritus Professor of War Studies at King's College London.

https://samf.substack.com/p/space-and-time

That was a really interesting article, even though as we've seen a lot of the updates we're being shown on social media lean a lot more towards Ukrainian successes it looks clear that it's not just propaganda to say Russia are struggling badly in many areas.

I just can't understand what Putin is doing here. It sounds like planning for the operation was non existent apart from between him and a select few, that the overall will to fight is patchy and that they've completely under estimated the resistance they'd face, and that leaves me asking why. You've got to question Putin's judgment at best and his sanity at worst.

Some latest updates are on the thread below. If Russia is stepping up close air support as it says here then that means a lot more low altitude flying and a whole lot more aircraft getting shot down. If they start to lose 10-15 aircraft/helicopters per day like yesterday then they're in big trouble.

Edit, attached to that thread is another interesting one from a recently retired Major General about just how hard a fight in Kyiv and other cities would be. And when you take into account all that, it just makes you question what the fuck Putin is doing even more.

It seems Putin has fallen into the old Soviet folly of surrounding yourself with people who only tell you what you want to hear, and anyone who tells you the uncomfortable truth is dismissed as a traitor, or evaporated entirely. He probably doesn't even trust his closest allies at this point. Dangerous territory.

From the Geneva Convention regarding PoWs:

Indeed.

However, it could be that they wanted to show their countrymen that this war is unjust and should be stopped?
