Raki and ouzo in Greece and Turkey is similar to pernod, it's lethal.

I can't cope with anything that smells/tastes of aniseed. Fennel is vile. Sambuca is the devil. Not had it since my 21st when I was took home from my own party hanging out the father in laws car throwing up 😂😂

Heard tales of folk getting drunk again after supping loads of water the day after a sesh on the Raki.😄

I think they make Boddies in Luton or somewhere like that these days, they used to do a 4 pint Bod-Can with a rubber stopper back in the seventies

The day after Whitbreads bought Boddingtons , I had to turn off the yeast room chillers.  That yeast had not altered for well over 50yrs. The yeast was dead within 48hrs .

That was the special taste . The original Boddies was rocket fuel. 5 pints and you were wobbling.

The "pride of Manchester" absolute shite should have done on the trades description act .

Boddies was a great drink until they sold out.

Bought some tins a year or so back and it was barely recognisable

To be fair,  five pints of Skol 2.3% would probably do me.  I've had very little alcohol since March

Back in the day, Skol on draught (most Tetley pubs) was a damm fine lager, the junction at Lostock when it was just a 2 room little pub did the perfect Skol.

Sure it was much stronger than 2.3 in them days.

Does Malibu and Lemonade still exist as a thing, remember having that in Bergerac's before a school do once for no good reason I can think of ?

Usually Malibu and coke isn't it?

Bergerac's was ace.  As a 17/18 yr old drinking all sorts of concoctions, watching soft porn on the tellies and ogling the skimpily clad birds behind the bar.  Was always the starting point for a night out.

DazBob is correct, it was Taboo and lemonade I was thinking of.

We all came to the conclusion that they watered everything down in Bergerac's because you could drink so many of their shots but it was probably just because we had a fully functioning liver back then.

IIRC the soft drinks used for the cocktails were definitely Happy Shopper.  I'd imagine the spirits used were of a similar quality.

It was grim but a lad at my school his dad owned it so we could get in without being I’D’s

Fluid next door was even worse, never seen people so openly take drugs 😂

Hang on a sec, are you talking about the original Bergerac's in St Andrews Court, or the relocated one on Bank Street?
