Palestinian Officials are Hamas. They control the country.
The Twitter guy is obviously pro Israel. People will make their own minds up regarding his post.

They control Gaza and are rightly described as a terrorist group. Most of Palestine is not Gaza but the West Bank.

Also from numerous other sources “Hamas governed Palestinian police”

Doesnt really matter who’s escorting it the point is it’s being nicked or sold on.

You're both right to question these sources 👍 Which is why I've added other viewpoints. None of it is concrete of course.

It's just odd that you question it when it's 'Palestinian officials', but not when it's the other way around.

Video appears to show Hamas stealing trucks of humanitarian aid that have entered the Gaza Strip from Egypt. Masked and armed men sit on top of the supplies as the trucks are driven deeper into the Strip. Hebrew-language media reports the men are from Hamas.

Israel has said that members of Hamas have been seizing aid, though U.S. and UNRWA officials have said there is no evidence for the claim

From a New York Times & Israel Times article.

Do you see a pattern here?

Both sides make claims - both sides have their own propaganda and shit to hide - both sides are responsible. Which is why it boggles me that some folk on this thread continue to pick a side on this conflict. Mostly the Israeli side.

Side? It’s Israel v Hamas. It boggles me that some pick Hamas.

Crikey. You honestly believe this conflict is that simple?

What about Israel’s latest land grab in the West Bank. The biggest in decades. Was that also in defence against Hamas?

There’s no reasoning with that kind of tunnel vision.

Not falling into the trap but, as Israel have been proved correct/honest all along (contrasting massively with the lies and deception of Hamas), I am inclined to believe these numbers. Even the most ardent apologists can't deny the evil bastards hide behind innocents everywhere - including in mosques and hospitals. The IDF knew they were there and sorted it despite bleatings from the lace hanky brigade and the likes of the untrustworthy habitual apologisers - the BBC.

Hopefully Hamas will be eliminated as a serious force very soon.

Yep. Blinken doing his best to broker some kind of peace deal but as he says, all Hamas have to do is surrender and it will be over. They have a red line though and that is Rafah.

If Hamas surrender will they also stop taking land from Palestinians ?

They've been battling it out for centuries.

How far do you want to go back?

History however,  shows what people did and are doing in the name of Islam, and its empire.

Maybe, just maybe, if all those folk just decided to accept the right of existence of Jews (and others), then all this terrible land grabbing from Palestinians won't happen, and indeed they could live side by side.

It's bizarre that you always bring it back to a fault with Jews, when in fact they've have been kicking off with each other for so long that it's not rational to play a blame game by either side.

Absolutely 👍

The Jewish settlers who are taking the land also use religion to justify their actions. They claim a 'divine right' to the land.

Here is the quote from Israel's current finance minister. "While there are those in Israel and the world who seek to undermine our right over the Judea and Samaria area and the country in general,” Smotrich said Friday, referring to the territory by its biblical name, “we are promoting settlement through hard work and in a strategic manner all over the country.”'

So critcise extreme Islam all you want - but you can't ignore the extremism on the Jewish side. And it's right at the top of government at the moment.

Maybe, just maybe, if all those folk just decided to accept the right of existence of Jews (and others), then all this terrible land grabbing from Palestinians won't happen, and indeed they could live side by side.

The fact you say 'maybe, just maybe' shows your clutching at straws with this nonsense. What kind of argument is that? Many Palestinians accept Israel as it's neighbour. They are however entitled to resist when their land is stolen and they lose their homes and livelihoods. They are also entitled to want a two state solution.

To live side by side - we need an end to the relgious extremism from both sides. Not just Hamas.

It's bizarre that you always bring it back to a fault with Jews, when in fact they've have been kicking off with each other for so long that it's not rational to play a blame game by either side.

Now you're just making stuff up. I've made it clear that I think both Hamas and Israel bear equal responsibility. See my previous post. If I refer back to Israel's actions it's because I think balance is important in this. As I've said, it's clearly not as simple as Israel vs Hamas.

No idea. People will stop dying though.

"At least 220 people have died in Israeli attacks across the occupied territories, including 48 children. Of the total death toll, 167 were from the West Bank and East Jerusalem and 53 were from the Gaza Strip."

This is 2022, a year before Hams reared it's ugly head across the border. Israel's defence secretary resigned, claiming his governments extreme policies were fuelling the fire.

Behind those figures you have thousands of displaced innocent families and bulldozed homes. Settlers begin by moving in close by, sometimes in tents before they build their own homes. They divert water suppplies, destroy crops and attack people. They cite ancient religious scripture to justify it all. Eventually the Palestinians are forced away from their land.

It is illegal. It's a war crime. And it has been happenning constantly. The current Israeli government actively encourage it.

We would all love Hamas to surrender in Gaza. Israel also has the power to create a ceasefire. But that doesn't solve the problem of what Israel are doing in Palestine.

An interesting post on the tensions between Hamas and the local clans of Gaza and the impact it's having on the delivery of aid

Interesting reading that 👍

Hamas really are vile.

Good ideas for solutions at the end.

Wait a minute... I thought this was just Israel vs Hamas?

"The world is wide," she says. "Africa is big. Canada is big. The world will absorb the people of Gaza.

These are the people who the Israeli government actively support. Vile people. It answers the question why neighbouring countries won't allow Israel victory by letting Palestinians move into their country.

Canada is big. It’s also fucking cold for much of the year. I’m not sure the people of Gaza will jump at the chance to flee the Mediterranean sunshine; even with the missiles, for the below freezing-point temperatures endured by most of Canada.

I guess the point would be there's a large chunk of Israelis (and government ministers) who don't think Palestinians have a right to exist on their land.

Almost reminds you of another extremist viewpoint. Can't think which one off the top of my head....
