The biggest hope we have - beyond the vaccine - is that Omicron does turn out to be mild. We should have a good idea of that in about 4 weeks.

If it is, and we can lift all restrictions then we’ve lost a few weeks with necessary caution.

If it can still kill tens of thousands, then we have protected plenty which is the government’s primary duty of care to its citizens.

Best case - mild variant, we checked it, confirmed it, cracked on mid January.

Some people just want an instant result, they’ve no fucking patience to let things play out. Have they eh? Eh? 😁😁😁

You've changed your tune, Quote, "crack on its only flu".

We have had a decent run of it

We couldve been locked down for months and we would still be in the shit

Not at all

The concern is impact on services.

Theres no evidence yet that Omicron is particularly deadly.

I’m not a lockdown nonce. I think we can manage this with some restrictions.

I have always said a new variant changes things. This may, but fortunately it looks to me like Covid is losing its threat long term.

Population of Spain is around ⅔ of ours. They had 33,000+ infections on the 17th, which equates to around 50,000 here. Where we were a few days ago.

Once omicron catches up, then Spain won't be a paradise any more!

Just shows that in general European countries have broadly similar issues with this disease.

As long as its 2 or 3 households that's fine with me, means I can see family (if we're still all testing negative at that point)

Wasn't going to the pub anyway. Might take a drive out to Haworth, I'm sure the kids would love that. 😁

If it isn't that, there will be loads sacking it off.

No travelling outside of your immediate postcode area, sorry. Thou shalt not pass your nearest supermarket, even if it’s an Asda and you usually shop at Waitrose.

I think we'll give that one a little pass if we're all negative.

As will the majority of people I would have thought.

So low? So fucking high more like. Aldi and Lidl man in the main.

Sainsbury’s have really upped their game on that front with Aldi price match and the random Nectar price cuts.

You do know ambulances do stuff other than take covid sufferers to hospital

If I told you the wait time last Friday you wouldn't believe me

Mates mum fell at home a week or so ago, broke her pelvis

10.5 hour wait

Spain aren’t testing as we are

How do we solve the problem of so many isolating?

Wait until we get some data.

if it’s mild, like a cold or flu, then we are back to normal.

And if its not, we are fucked

In fact, we are fucked already

And even more fucked in a week, which makes delaying a lockdown criminal
