Fuck knows why they didn't drive him in the first place anyway, but hey ho Well yeah, there is that I actually think the advice would be not to drive in case shock kicks in It was Friday night and a few pints in but I'm pretty sure Mrs c said 8 hour wait on friday Quote

This has been happening for years. Quote

We've had this conversation before. Bit like whitty, sage will be more focused on the science/medical side of things. I've no problem with that, as it's their job. It's the responsibility of ministers though to mitigate that advice with other factors, so I wouldn't necessarily expect them to fully align. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) 'Pushing Back' makes one gay (not that there's owt up with it) as does locking eyes. As a kid a mate fell out of a conker tree and broke his arm and still played around an hour in a kickabout after. Shock my arse - it hurts a bit. My mate broke mine doing a punk dive on me (the coward's stagedive) it smarted a bit but I just cracked on until it was convenient to go to The Royal Infirmary and get a pot on it. It’s not Frost who’ll make the final decisions, the 1922 are all elected Tory MPs it just so happens Frost is more aligned to that strand of the party. Democracy will be exercised with elected MPs from across the Tory party and not decided by Frost. Therefore I don’t need to be up in arms about it. Quote
Spider Posted December 19, 2021 Author Posted December 19, 2021 I’m dead against a lockdown but the bottom line isn’t how mild (or otherwise) this variant is, it’s the fact that everyone goes to home jail for ten days when they have it. We cannot throw essential services under that particular bus, it’s not fair on NHS staff who are already at breaking point. Push them too far, and they’ll just start dialling in as positive and the snowball effect would be catastrophic. Its a really shit situation. Again. Quote

If you're referring to Lord Frost, then he's not particularly close to the 1922 committee. He has addressed them, and of course being part of government will have some influence. As it's composed of all tory backbench mps though, some will be more sympathetic to covid measures, whereas others won't. His leaving was in part because of government tax increases too, which again are as a result of covid, and are temporary. Of course him leaving will he a blow, but remember there is still a sizeable majority of Conservative mps that back the government's measures on covid. Quote

Spider Posted December 19, 2021 Author Posted December 19, 2021 The biggest hope we have - beyond the vaccine - is that Omicron does turn out to be mild. We should have a good idea of that in about 4 weeks. If it is, and we can lift all restrictions then we’ve lost a few weeks with necessary caution. If it can still kill tens of thousands, then we have protected plenty which is the government’s primary duty of care to its citizens. Best case - mild variant, we checked it, confirmed it, cracked on mid January. Some people just want an instant result, they’ve no fucking patience to let things play out. Have they eh? Eh? 😁😁😁 Quote
