Genuine home and away regular, but also knew enough about other clubs that you could have a good chat with him about the whites (RIP). He'd get all misty eyed when he talked about the 'old city'. Much as he enjoyed the success that money brought - I always had this feeling that he didn't enjoy it in the same way as he did back prior to the foreign investment. The spark had gone a little and it was never quite the same for him. I imagine this will be similar for a lot of proper fans up in Newcastle in a year or two. For me - as things stand I've got a club and a set up I can be proud of. It feels like it represents Bolton and its people. And I don't think anyone should underestimate how important that is. Especially in this day and age. To me at least. Ricky Hatton has said something similar. Become something they spent years berating

Owners with dodgy links all over, and we've got a world Cup in Qatar. If we're going to shout about Newcastle, we should shout about them all. People do though. Its brought up all the time. As I say PSG are another prime example and the shame of a bribed WC in Qatar. I think football does need to do something, but whilst people just shrug and say, ah well, it happens everywhere it will still continue to happen. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with owners with links to beheading homosexuals (although might be a plus point for one of two 😉 )killing people who have commited adultery or luring dissedents for a meeting to chop them up with a bloody chainsaw. I'd rather never get into the premiership again, and the flaccid excuses around all of it are a bit of a joke to be honest.
Dr. Feelgood
City, throughout the Peter Swales years were a basket case for decades. There was a time when, by overpaying players who a. Turned out to be shite b. Were never going to leave they had a squad of around 65 players, most of whom weren't playing at all, yet moved aside for yet more to be recruited. Shinawatra brought money, but also scandal. Then his legal woes began. The Arabs, who I swear thought they were buying United, have bought this success. It's better than years of failure, it's better than 'doing a Bury' but it's lack of organic growth must lead to some basic dissatisfaction. A feeling of falsehood. Newcastle will now do the same. Tell you what, for all their Far Eastern dosh I'd rather be Leicester.

The point shearer was making was that for all the comments aimed at Qatar etc, nothing happens and its just platitudes. On that basis, if Fifa, the fa, Premier league and efl can't or won't get their act together, then Newcastle are entitled to join the others. Its a difficult one though - I mean, how many would really not go because of ownership? Where is the line? Dodgy porn peddler ok, murderous state regime not? Football does need to get its house in order absoultely and its shouldn't just be on the fans - but getting Fifa, the PL or clubs to turn their back is asking turkey's to vote for Christmas. So if they won't who will? I don't have any answers, but its a really uncomfortable truth.

Perhaps a number of countries could threaten to break from Fifa, though there doesn't seem to be any enthusiasm for it. Ultimately, if enough fans/players etc got together in a meaningful way and lobbied the authorities, then maybe something could be done. I doubt enough are that bothered though to make a difference. No easy answers, but I'm not going to go bonkers towards Newcastle when there are loads of others in the same boat.
