Hardly the point neither- Sluufy just being Sluffy. As the top man at the club, it was his responsibility to look after staff and ensure they got paid. To suggest he was under no obligation is frankl

It's the nobby Europa Conference League, just in case anybody is getting it mixed up with the more prestigious Europa League

I think the place in the UECL for the EFL Trophy winners was withdrawn in 2020 - so no euro jolly for us.

As part of the agreement signed when they bought the club, Football Ventures paid out £2.75m to the Eddie Davies Trust Fund, and another £250,000 after promotion to League One. The accounts note that the Trust also wrote off the remaining £2.75m.

Got to respect them for that. 🙏

Amazed. I didn't know that at all.

So 'pre-season' will be given a focus then.

The £95 per £100 is a bit of a red herring (and undoubtedly a bit of clickbait on Maguire’s behalf) as the figures he’s used are only for the football side so don’t actually include the income from F&B, Hotel etc so the overall wage percentage is lower.

Some references along those lines in further tweets.

Begs the question as to whether the "sustainable" model allows the hotel business to suplement the football side of things, or whether the football is meant to stand on its own in the future.

Have you any ideas in that regard?

Iles seems to view our financial situation as steady , taking into account the hotel business etc.

Custard will be along soon to give us the extrapolated version .

hopefully not .

Are we skint , or just shuffling the brass ?

In Shazza I trust .

For as long as the club (read FV) are the owners of the hotel then I think the idea is very much that it is used as a source of income to underwrite the football side of things. In a similar vein to when FV were determined to bring the F&B operation back in-house so that ultimately it is back in their control in terms of the quality of service and ultimately it all adds to the bottom line.

Makes sense.

Always a risk I suppose, but you can understand the determination to keep up good standards at the hotel etc.

Bloody hope not with the way they’ve been disappearing!

(Probably worth mentioning at this juncture that the owners at Hibs in the late 80s tried to “diversify the business” by buying a load of pubs and restaurants in London that subsequently went bump and nearly ended up in a merger with Hearts!)

Yes I think FV have seen something of the original vision that it would be an asset to the club, otherwise what’s the point in it, I suppose.

Fairly sure there’s a Radisson sign up on the car park but could be wrong. Will check tomorrow.

There was an article/statement (think it was Sharon) at the time talking about the covid money.

It was linked to on here, on some thread or other, and it was explained quite well.

It has gone again now iirc.

The last update from the BN was June 22 when they changed the name to Bolton Stadium Hotel in readiness for joining the Radisson Individuals later in the year. It had been delayed previously, my guess is it will still happen, but is probably taking a bit longer to do the refurbish before launching.
