The Cost Of Living Crisis

Anyone felt the pinch yet?

Notice a good proportion of my hotels are quiet this week. But with the jubilee round the corner and pride the week after maybe folk are simply saving their trips for that.

Cant help but feel the media are driving a lot of it. They seem hell bent on us heading into a recession. Making people panic and stop spending.

They should be telling everyone its all gravy.

Only area Ive felt it is diesel. £154 to fill my van the other day. That's taking the piss.

Biggest rip off is generic tablets. Paracetamol, asprin and allergy tablets seem the worst for it.

For example, Piriteze is about a tenner for 30, one a day. Boots will sell their own brand for about 3 quid, Asda might be closer to 2 quid. You can order 6 months worth for £4.50 off amazon and they are probably not the cheapest either if you could br arsed shopping around.

Getting a van or a gas bottle? :D

Currently paying £89 for 47kg Propane, because we have to buy it on site. (Was paying £60 5 years ago, so not horrendous)
You could technically get it cheaper, but it's in our contract. That said, they come with a full one, disconnect the old one and reconnect for you. Plus the annual gas check is free.

47kg equates to approx 660 kWh, so approx 13.5p per kWh which is about 30% more than home gas.
But, we use far less. Van is far smaller and much more energy efficient than your house. A 20 minute blast on the heating keeps it warm for hours, they're that well insulated.

Generic pills are exactly the same as branded pills.  They simply have to have the same formula, active ingredients, etc.  Branded drugs are more expensive simply because of marketing costs and ting.

And that's the exact mindset that lets them get away with it...

And if you pay for your prescriptions and ask, any decent pharmacist will advise you of the generic alternatives.

I bet it was branded Lemsip that cured his COVID, not the Asda own brand derivative 🙂

He probably drunk the blackcurrant flavour as well, the dirty bastard

What's wrong with blackcurrant?

Preferably to a sickly orange.

I am pal, it was said tongue in cheek. If it ain't from Aldi I ain't buying

You've got to be a special kind of clown to pay top whack for TV advertising and shiny branded shit that is the same product.

You just have to check the license number on the box. Be the same for your Asda decongestant as it is for the mega expensive stuff

nurofen is just ibuprofen in a slightly flashy box

I remember when you could get about 50 paracetamol in a white tub from the cheap shop. Those big chalky round fuckers that you had to wash down with a pint of water.

Limited to about 16? Per trip to the shop mow, arent you

Cocodamol and lots of fibre supplement

Just had some great news from work.

This year's pay increase is less than the extra I'm now expected to contribute to my pension each month.

So my monthly take home will be going down from the end of this month.

Additionally because it's backdated and my increased pension contributions are greater than my pay increase I should expect a 'significant short fall in pay' this month as they take my arrears out.

God bless the Tories! And long live the NHS! 😳
