Hearing aids

Had hearing loss since I was a nipper and now decided to bite the bullet and get a hearing aid, does anyone have any advice or experience of these things as it seems to be a mine field, NHS would obviously be the first choice but I'm guessing there the lower end hearing aids? Any advice would be welcome.

Think its a case of the more you pay the better and smaller they are.

Fella that works for me had some cloggers fitted from NHS that sounded like he had his ears to a radio speaker.

Ended up spending £2k on some tiny things you cant see and he can hear like superman.

I've done NHS and it helped originally. I struggled to heat soft words in meetings but found the hearing aids helpful with this.

Decided to pay a couple of grand on some private firm (Bloom). They were better and smaller than the NHS ones but not sure it justified the money.

As it stands I've decided to go without and just say 'what' or 'pardon' a lot.

I would recommend boots .
get a hearing test and they’ll set up a set of the ones they do , tuned to the sounds you can’t hear in relation to how poor each frequency and sound is, so some sounds amplified more than others and some not at all .
automatic change to voice directions and noisy environment plus all kinds of other features , phone mode, Bluetooth etc .
I got persuaded to try it after years of complaining people were mumbling, telly on 30 etc . Slow noise induced loss.

Couldn’t believe the difference when I first tried them, no exaggeration to say it changed my life , could hear people properly in meetings etc and in the pub and all kinds of weird little things.

out telly went from volume 30 to 18 and everything is sharper .

others will do similar but I used boots and would definitely recommend.

Have you tried rubbing your ears with an inflated bloon?
