Whatabout, whatabout

You say Judges should know but they can only give a sentence in line with the guidelines and if a jury finds them guilty then they act accordingly

You can't deny an appeal for anyone convicted of a crime just because you dont like it

Nothing to do with human rights but surely you agree everyone should be entitled to a fair trial? If that means someone gets accused of under age sex when they didn't, do you expect them to just shrug their shoulders, go off to prison with the nonce tag?

No I expect them to get a minimum of 15 years and a goos shoeing every day...... but hey im just an old fashioned gammon

Serious question......why are people getting stiffer sentences for " offensive" tweets than a labour MP gets for obvious vidoed threats to harm? And why are people getting stiffer sentences for downloading Premier League Football than downloading child porn?

For anyone who needs time for consideration its fine....I've got time on my hands, I can wait.

The first one I can see maybe happening. Depending on the nature of the tweets. But the second one? Surely not? It would have to be some mega rare occurrence that. I doubt you'd even get a slap on the wrists if the cops came round and you had wonky Sky on?

Has anyone even been charged by police for having a dodgy stick? Plenty of propaganda threatening it but only arrests I’ve seen are for those caught flogging them.

You get treated less favourably for non payment of council tax......this country is run by a cesspit of corrupt, child abusing grifters from all parties.

But you LOVE corrupt, child-abusing grifters?

I very much doubt it

Yip….. but they pulled a flag down 😂

It's amazing that this is still a thing

I said ages ago, probably on this thread, that my colleagues over in the Netherlands said that the trouble on that evening was basically Dutchers going looking for it. The Maccabi fans whilst not angels by any stretch of the imagination were absolutely no worse than any other foreign fans who find themselves in Amsterdam for a couple of nights.

I'd much rather, the Police had said. "You know what, we didn't want a load of that lot over here, as tensions are high, and there is a large Muslim community here, and whilst we have no proof that there would be any trouble, we're not willing to risk it, so we want them banned"  -  or words to that effect, rather than pissing about as they have done.

Not once.......its just the usual unfounded mud flinging rant of an attention seeking keyboard warrior.

The labour chap was a Councillor,  and was found not guilty.

Hence no sentence!

He got better advice, pleaded not guilty and went to trial.

Connelly should have done the same but was misled by the legal profession.

Unfortunately, the Free Speech Union didn't manage to get to her in time to advise her properly.

Yep I think the majority realise that’s was the case, though there’s still some on here being kidded by the bullshit that was pushed. It’s a sad reflection of the times when in 2025 in the U.K. fans can’t go and watch their team playing because of the threats from a minority.

Yeah I've been to sleep and woken up. 😁

I think a suspended sentence isn't enough of a deterrent/punishment for downloading images of kids. Or keeping them on your phone after being sent them on WhatsApp - which is what Huw Edwards did. And is possibly/maybe why he got off as lightly as he did.

I've never heard of anybody getting a sentence for watching a Premier League game in a Firestick though. Which was the point I'm making.

I understand some people have been imprisoned who have made millions out of selling dodgy sticks though.

It does seem to be the wrong way around to my neutral eyes - but I don't REALLY know that much about the cases in question. And even if I did - I wouldn't understand sentencing guidelines well enough to say whether they had been applied properly or not. Maybe there were aggravating factors that led to heavier sentences for them? IDK?

I think we're probably in more agreement than disagreement though 👍

Thankfully he was sent abroad for sentencing. The rest of Europe probably thought fuck putting him on trial in the U.K.  he will be selling boats again in no time.

Starmer concurs.

But, gang smashed.

Weirdly, right wing twitter seems to have missed this good news.

With them smashing a main boat provider you’d expect crossings to dwindle. The opposite happened. 😉

Or they haven’t increased by as much as they may have.
