Wullie Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Just for a bit of perspective, 7 out of the 15 Derby players playing today are new players for them this season, and all from a division higher, so I'm not surprised they were better then us. I think it is a bit harsh on our players, when you compare player to player. I said play offs would be our ending position, and I think that would be a good season, going up would be a pleasant surprise, as apart from Barnsley, the rest above us have better squads Quote
burnden Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Evatt on radio manc just now saying for those fans who think we are looking light on players he agrees and they are working hard to bring more players in . Quote

He set the foundations of Bruce and I think today shows we may have some similarities. We could even win the Sherpa van which would be ironic. I think we will make the play offs similar to PN but I just can’t see how we get past a semi (unless Barnsley) going off our record against the top end. Defo some similarities. Quote

TM Trotter Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Beaten by a better side on the day. But as has been said before, we almost didn't deserve to lose. Shows the difference in taking chances and not... Derby were anonymous second half bar their goal but never really looked under threat from us. I'd have taken playoffs in August and I still think that's where we are going to be in May. Then it's a lottery... keep the faith. Quote
frank_spencer Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Result just confirms where we sit in the division at the moment. Should make play offs. But will need to sharpen up if we're going to win them. Quote

barrycowdrill Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 If we were outplayed by the teams above us you can accept where we are in the pecking order. The frustration is we’ve been the better side in the vast majority of games but our return from them has been next to nowt Quote

IE: "he has blistering speed and will give us a real attacking threat down that left hand side, predominantly he has been brought in to mirror what we are getting from Bradley on the right". If he wasn't ready presumably Beck would have played a bit more while he got upto speed. I’m sure Williams has played more games than was planned , as for Beck obviously Evatt doesn’t trust him, anyway are you saying Evatt is incompetent ? Anyway your ‘impression’ is neither here nor there. Quote

Need a good win Tuesday and get something at Charlton Shouldn't be creeping into them 5th, 6 points ahead, played 2 games more Still got the bottom 8 to play starting with bottom place FGR on Tuesday We should make them comfortably Quote

As said earlier in the thread, we're likely to come across Derby or one of the top 3 in play off semi, more required to get past them. Easy to pick holes in Dapo, Baka, to an extent JDB, this season but still over of 30 of last season's goals gone out of the club or onto the treatment table. Nlundulu may, with a bit more time, replace some of them but, unless a rabbit's pulled out of the hat before Jan's out, we might well still have enough to get in play offs but fall short there Quote

onefinfrandsen Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Looking on the positive side, only got Wednesday and Ipswich to play out of the top six. If we could some how get 4 points from those 2 games the rest of our games are against teams below us. No guarantees I know but there’s an awful lot of football to be played Quote
superkev Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 First time they have conceded at home for three months, so there’s one positive I suppose🤦🏻♂️ Quote
FrancisFogarty Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Again, great to see us still getting forward in minute 93. Quote
dusan nikolic Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Frustrating day in the end , I think we just shaded the first half personally and had a decent 15 minute spell in the 2nd but a lack of cutting edge cost us . I thought Derby pressed really well and looked very strong ( without creating loads thereselves) . Quote
SatanGreavsie Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Th'East Midlands Whites are just back, having taken 75 minutes to get off the industrial estate car park we were on. The vote to "drink heavily" has been carried unanimously. Quote
woolli Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 (edited) I think the biggest frustration for me is, i dont think, football wise, they wherent any better than us. Just think more clinical, and had more tempo. Edited January 21, 2023 by woolli wrong word Quote

Spider Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 With James McClean in our team, there’s no way we lose that game today. He’s priority number one before the window closes. Quote
MancWanderer Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Only caught the second half. They looked better than us. The table never lies. We are where we are and probably deserve it. Not got the greatest squad, fuck up occasionally and pull the odd rabbit out of the hat. Well worthy of a play off place imo and from then on its a lottery. Get to the Pizza final and the playoffs then it’s been a decent season. Greaves, Neal, Rioch were all slow builds. See Evatt the same. Be reet Quote
