The reason I’m happy we have ACV is that it stops KA buying the stadium for three pence and renting it back to the club for silly money. That’s happened at other clubs and something we must avoid at all costs.

Aside from the fact it doesn't

Doesn't affect value, the value remains whatever someone is willing to pay for it, the ACV just restricts the actions a current owner can do with or to it, and only for 5 years, so the ACV just is a small barrier, and wouldn't affect the club being sold, even though Ken has intimated that it has or would

The asset has a value on the books

That is not what somebody is prepared to pay, it's what somebody estimates somebody will pay

Yes?

It makes it more difficult, can’t do it on the quiet and present us with a fait accompli,  better than fuck all as you’d seemingly prefer.

So why say it does  :)

it would just take him six months. In fact he could've done it by now!

If it was true, its probably a case of a threat from the carrot muncher meet by a counter threat from Ken all in the heat of the moment.

I don't mean its probably true as in did he say it or not, I've no reason to assume he didn't

I mean its probably true that KA "doesn't care" if we go bankrupt as he doesn't lose out

Was hoping he'd address that and not resort to a smokescreen of petty jibes aimed at FGR and the BN

He can’t buy it without first announcing his intention to and allowing the community raise money to purchase.

Ideally, he'd have come out and said it was just something to shut the bloke, who abandoned his kid, up

Which it better have been, cos if that's really his attitude,I'll end up tracking him down myself

Be honest though, whatever he says, I'll read it one way, you will read it another

Yes and No (which is not the answer you were looking for unfortunately), the asset regarding football stadiums is slightly more complicated than other entities. The 2011 Localism Act makes it easier for local communities to bid for and take over the assets, but it still doesn't stop the owner from doing other things, he couldn't though decide to build a supermarket at one end on a whim, not that any club in their right mind would ever do that :)

And even then he doesnt have to sell to them

Even if they double the next offer

Seriously mate, ACVs are a waste of time

There probably should be something stronger available because they do nowt in the scheme of things

Reet, I'll give up as it's getting complicated

Other than to ask....are you saying there is something with more teeth than an ACV

Not really, the only other Acts regarding football stadiums are around safety and security, the ACV is a cloak and dagger ACt, where you think it protects an community asset, but like anything else, if something went to legal action, it probably would not stand a test case in law, which is why I was surprised Ken made a thing out of it when the ST went ahead, he still owns the asset and can sell to whomever he wants.

A bit like Craven Cottage, when they were redeveloping the ground and Mohamed Al-Fayed owned the ground, he could do whatever he wanted, apart from the grade 2 listed building that was part of the ground, now that has far more standing and power as you would imagine

Well it seemed abundantly clear that the ST had been in contact with Vince in advance of his public comments about KA - why else would he be running a T-shirt promotion for them as a show of unity against Anderson?

It did occur to me if it were they who changed his mind from seemingly 'relaxed with the situation' to hooking Doidge back to FGR a day or so later - maybe they put a serious doubt in his mind that he might not get the first instalment of the deal which presumably he has budgeted into his running costs for the club for the remainder of the season perhaps?

It similar crossed my mind if the ST were behind the Baronesses letter too - why else would they randomly send it - maybe even the ST wrote it for them to sign if agreeable to it?

Obviously I'm only speculating but clearly there is a solid connection between Vinny and our beloved ST which predates his public views of KA and not something that came from them afterwards.

It was the ST who invaded Sudetenland. ITK double fact. Probly.

So the loony window lickers are quiet prepared to pay upwards of £34 pounds for coach and ticket to travel well over 100 miles to watch a side they don't support. I wonder how many of them have moaned about paying less than that to watch the team they support. They really do need help.

It depends what he says, and if he can back it up

On some occasions I think he's used his column well to react to what's being said about him and have even praised him for this recently when he took Iles to task over something or over

But yes I am cynical and doubt most things he says these days because he has a track record of bullshit, all of his own making

So far I think folk who are "pro KA" or would rather support him than not do so because they believe if KA wins financially, it means the club do, and even though I don't like him it was that hope that meant I had no time for the anti KA mob going out of their way to give him shit, and begrudgingly gave him some respect that he has a job to get on with

I'm now far less convinced, as he had a chance to react, but instead diverted attention by using his column to sling some mud again

You'd have to be the Pope to have the restraint not to react to some of the shit being posted he's had to put up with (own making or otherwise).

Ken obviously thinks that he has a solid hand, firstly with his comment that veggimite leaked and secondly in his column, i.e. see you in court if it gets there.

It'll be the wanky protest.

We should have our own counter protest.
