  1. Biggest cheers tonight were for the paper planes hitting the pitch. I’ve also learned that being close to Wembley as the crow flies means fuck all when it comes to the tube! Anyway, 9th/10th trip to Wembley, first time under the lights- free tickets, cheap trains, expensive drinks but worth it

  2. Because the BBC is a publically funded service that shouldn't be using our money to placate the tantrums of an entitled foreign fuckwit. The edit in question didn't affect him or his campaign in the slightest. It was broadcast over a year ago, and the edit was so subtle and in-keeping with the general gist of his speech that nobody even noticed until someone leaked an internal report to the Telegraph. They didn't put words in his mouth, or change the essence of the speech - which has been viewed billions of times since he delivered it in 2021. They just failed to make it absolutely clear that one sentence wasn't spoken immediately after another. The entire thing is utter woke nonsense.

  3. Sheff U were linked soon as WIlder took over I suspect any move to the Championship at Christmas would be with a view to a permanent deal at the end the season, otherwise what is the point the noises coming from Brighton don't suggest they are looking to sell him at the moment, and are more interested in his development in terms of his development, I would imagine it would make more sense for him to stay at a team that is winning, where he is thriving, because building confidence is a key part of development, plus if he's happy here i woudln't see the benefit of cutting his loan short to go and play in a struggling side anyway I'm 100% confident he will be here all season

  4. The whole point of this grooming gang scandal is that it was COVERED UP because of their ethnicity/religion. Highlighting white perpetrators who HAVE been convicted surely just highlights the problem. Doesn’t it?

  5. During my stay in NY, I ate burgers most of the time. (When in Rome) The best I had, was in a restaurant next to Grand Central Station. They ain’t like the burgers we get over here. I’m guessing the people trying to be snobbish about them have either never been or are, well, just snobbish.

  6. I think everyone's getting a bit too giddy here. Yes, he's an outstanding L1 player, but the standard in L1 is light years below the Championship. He's going nowhere unless a Championship team offer Brighton a stupidly high transfer fee in January, but given he's got just half a L1 season under his belt that's just not going to happen. The most likely outcome will be he finishes this season with us and is then loaned out again to a Championship side next season ... and if we go up then that'll be us.

  8. This is basically the sequence when the top 2 chase disappeared that season. Still remember the 4-1 loss to Blackburn when they seemed way better than us. Amazing work by Allardyce to keep us focused on the play offs rather than feeling sorry for ourselves.

  9. Just another story that is all about the alleged ‘baddies’ and how more men can use the story to attack other men. Same old cycle. There will be cunts from every side involved. There is a bit at the end that mentions the victims.

  10. You’re totally not getting what I’m saying. People post about an Asian gang the replies are usually whataboutery with links to white paedos. Post about a white gang and nobody (rightly so) posts whataboutery

  12. The facts are abuse has happened forever and that whenever they we do we are all a lot happier if we convince ourselves it is ‘them’ that are doing it. Them might be Muslims (although that has evolved to Packistanis) Catholics, Scout leaders, people working in Social Services, anyone involved in teaching (especially with beards) celebrities (preferably from earlier decades), public school boys, Vicars, the list is virtually endless. We kid ourselves it used to happen and there are strong safeguards to stop it happening again, as we have been saying for the last 30-40 years. The gang that was arrested in Blackrod does not seem to fit the profile, the case that RW posted about a Marine certainly does not. So it is human nature to try and shut down those stories because the idea a monster looks just like ‘us’ or ‘me’ makes them even more frightening. These days we are much more concerned about the victims and chasing down the bastards that are involved….really ? Let’s take the Epstein files, these are only high profile at the moment because of the nonce previously known as Prince and the links to Trump. Where is the clamour to get all the names out there and action taken against anyone involved in child trafficking ? There must be hundreds of names in there. How long till we hear the defence ‘it was different back then, remember Mandy Smith ?’ Jerry Lee Lewis ? Most abuse happens within the family. Uncle Ernie ? The unusual thing with the Packistani gangs here is that the abuse is almost 100% of people of a different ethnicity. The most common theme is the vast majority of all sex abuse cases is that they are committed by men. Trying to deflect that by blaming ‘them’ all the time whilst normalising the Tates of this world. Of course we should not hide from the fact that certain groups are more likely to commit certain crimes but equally to hide behind blaming ‘them’ and thinking ‘stop the boats, stop the abuse’ is the most whataboutery arguement and it and similar logic is why after decades of these stories and scandals the stories keep happening just the ‘them’ has changed

  13. Within our society, abuse had always been frowned upon. Hence the abuse is carried out by individuals or groups of likeminded individuals who manage to get together and operate under the radar. Historically, the church and care services have been areas that abusers have sought careers in for obvious access to youngsters. Some of this was covered up so as not to damage reputations of the institutions. Once discovered, they were investigated deeply and measures put in place to prevent further occurrences. When these scandals were uncovered and reported, how many times did people introduce whataboutery and try to deflect by going on about abuse elsewhere? It didn't happen because the investigations were conducted into those specific circumstances, as they should be, and folk were keen to see justice done in them. Now the situation is a different one, with a focus on a culture that doesn't have the same views as ours. The abuse as we see it, isn't viewed in the same way. Inter-family marriage, marriage of very young girls, misogyny, racism and a consideration of white girls as of lesser value. Slightly tangential maybe, but female feticide has increased too, with the availability of scanning identifying the sex of the unborn. Plenty to investigate you would imagine; but fuck it, abuse happens amongst other communities, so nothing to see.

  14. No but each area of concern needs addressing specifically. Not just all just lumping together to try and dampen down particular problem sectors of society. You can address them individually you know. There's reasons grooming gangs have flourished and continue to do so, from cultural issues to social services issues. There's reasons some migrants from Afghanistan, Northern Africa and the likes are committing sexual offences. There's a whole set of other parameters for a whole host other cases, which are equally abhorrent and need addressing. It's not just one big generic problem.

  15. The pitch was also a complete mess. Probably the worst it's ever been at the Reebok. Had to be relaid mid season a few weeks later

  16. Can someone explain this; if there are no Epstein files as per Trump's Attorney General, why does stuff keep getting leaked from the Epstein files? Also, if it is a Hoax as per Trump, why is he now insisting that same fake evidence should now be used against Democrats like Clinton? I mean, that is mental behaviour?

  17. Yeah. Every away game seemed to be a no nonsense 2 nil, goals on 30th and 60th minute with no drama. We could do with that this season

  19. seem to recall that Gillingham 3-3 was the second 3-3 draw that season where we were winning 3-1 at 90 minutes or at least spaffed a 3-1 lead 5 points from 6 home games clearly our home form was guff but recall that season replicated Alladyce's season in the championship when he took west ham up, great away record, average home record

  26. Both 👍. I don’t like abuse of power, lies, corruption, inequality, intolerance and a lack of compassion. This tends to inform who I vote for (which varies). It also explains my dislike for Trump (and other cruel leaders and dictators around the world).

  27. went to Forest in our promotion season in 00/01 we didn't take many, nowhere near a sell out, but I randomly ended up in the trent end through a county mate who's brother had an st but was in hospitality i kept quiet throughout, but the fans around me were doing my head in, because they were shite and we were winning things like "these are fuck all, they're not even as big as burnley, burnley brought loads more than they did" we scored a second in the 90th minute and I couldn't help but give a stifled cheer enough to make myself known and had to make a sharp exit

  31. fucking grim this sounds "familar" - they always find a way: his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp that he ran. some folk might say it's not the same crime as gangs, but, it seems it was allowed to continue for the same reasons: The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), previously told the BBC it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

  38. Do you not think it’s odd/weird that when people post about an Asian/paki/muzzie grooming gang it’s usually followed by a link with yes what about white paedos? It’s comparing 2 x different crimes. We knows there’s white paedos it’s not a competition.

  43. There have been plenty of suggestions about various things Biden did. I'm not sure there have ever been the same level of international intrusion and media abuse of power over it. The BBC have now been found to have done this twice. A Swedish media company, and an Australian one appear to have done the same. Editing speeches to give a completely false impression. This isn't about retreating to a bunker- I've no time for Trump as a person- it is about our public broadcaster fundamentally breaking its own rules; shattering its raison d'etre. This will have far reaching implications for its future. It may not get the opportunity ever to return to what it once was. Fwiw, there have been plenty of comments about our own PM: I'm yet to see any broadcaster fabricating videos in this way to "get him". Nor for that matter the PMs before him.

  44. I do agree with this, and its probably more my fault for being terminally online, but the reaction to that pair of defeats at Northampton then Burton showed that it doesnt take much for people to forget all the good stuff theyve seen previously and to not take into account the fact we're actually still a work in progress even now. Social media was chaos the night of the Burton loss, from what I hear the away end was loudly negative too. I've a mate who's been crowing about how ruthless we've been the last few games and how SS could be looking for a league and EFL Trophy double this season. Same mate sent me an lenghty diatribe just before ko of the Huddersfield away game, saying he thought we were done as a team, that SS is completely clueless and should be sacked if we didnt win, and that ACD is a busted flush as teams have worked out how to defend against him.
