Spicy shit

Two things I have eaten recently that I have instantly regretted.

First was "hotter than the sun" chicken wings from Bunny Jacksons in Manchester. My fucking make up was dripping off my face from the first taste. Pure pain it was. Nothing enjoyable about the little bastards.

Second was these bloody things. I think my intestines may have fallen out of my bum bum.

Why do i do this to myself? Anyone else like to torture themselves with stupidly spicy delicacies?

'Spicy' food in this country just means chilli overload.

I like proper spicy food which involves the proper use of a blend of different spices.

Little lever innit, hot pot noodles are extreme cuisine to some folk.

Take no notice. She's at it again with the subliminal messaging. "Dripping off my face", "my bum bum".

Don't fall for it lads. This is how they snare us.

3 minute noodles are the devils food.

pouring a sachet of dried chilli on won’t help improve them neither.

Might as well rub the powder directly onto your hoop.

Or get someone to do it for you if you’re that way inclined

Went through a phase of doing all the mad chillis. Hottest were these Colombian things off the market in Glasgow. Insanely hot but edible.

Like traf says the chilli sauce based things like them noodles are just inedible and just ruin your life.

Them little bird eye chillis they do in sainos are ace. Give me anxiety the next day though.

Fairly sure we had a few chilli growers on here a number of years ago. @Carlosand @barryk32 we’re two, I think.

Same here. I bought a couple of Komodo Dragon peppers a few years back and ate one raw. It was fucking brutal. Took the other one to work and gave it to the oldest bloke in the office because he wanted to use it in a curry. He was off sick for about a week. 😁

I used to give these to the kids when they ask for crisps.

Indeed, a lot of people seem to think Spicy = bum burning hot and nothing else. If it doesn't have a decent flavour, then what's the point? Almost all the hot sauces that you can buy now are just laden with chilli, maximum burn and zero taste. There are still a few decent ones out there though....Encona Hot Pepper Sauce, still have a decent heat and decent flavour, and that's the one I tend to stick to. I am though, with age I think, becoming a bit softer with heat, I'll very rarely have a Naga Curry these days, where as I was on them all the time 4 or 5 years ago, a nice steady Madras or Vindaloo is more where I am these days.

Edit: Mrs Sweep still orders herself a Korma every time 🙄

Franks Hot Sauce has the best balance of heat and flavour. You can get an extra hot one if you like your ringpiece to melt.

Make my own. Took a few attempts to get the balance between spicy and hot but there now.

Tried that Da Bomb once off Hot Ones on YouTube. Absolutely fucking rank stuff.

Not really any need anymore.  This day and age you can get proper decent chillies then the veg section at Tesco etc

House of Raja for me.

Nice to grow different varieties though- might try some again next year. Will do from seed though and treat as an annual, as they can be a ball ache to keep through winter.

Did someone say Naga? She prefers short hair but I think this suited her better.

Got a Scotch Bonnet plant on the go. Last year was a disappointment. Small fruit and way too many gnats infesting the house. Cut it right back and there’s some big old fruits appearing now

I dry them all and grind them down but they are just heat. Taste is from a proper blend of spices like Traf says. Peppers and mustards have far more taste. Look to the Far East for proper tasty spicy stuff

I like scotch bonnets. They grow easily here and sure they are hot - so use sparingly - but unlike a lot of chillies, they (IMO) enhance the flavour of the other ingredients rather than give that unnecessary burn that dominates. If you dry them out they lose the oil which permeates the food so best used fresh.

I don't like burning my face off when there's no flavour - reminds me of that Somali guy in Manchester who used to give out the "I finished a kamikaze curry" t-shirts if you could eat a bowl of his diarrhoea-esque slop as if it was a competition. Fortunately his place was only 100 yards from A & E at St Mary's in Rusholme - another gaff that had an unfortunate fire/insurance claim.

House of raja near bolton uni? I've got a hour and half to kill before my afternoon class.

Habanero chillies will turn your ring into a japanese flag.
