The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Baffling sacking Nuno. Mad what's hailed as attractive football these days. Give me some of that fast no bs counter attacking football they were playing last season over much of the tedious dross that is PL football.

He talked his way into getting sacked with comments he made in press conferences

Might have been because he didn't get the transfers he wanted and owner bringing Edu in as sporting director but Nuno knew exactly what he was doing

He certainly did know what he was doing.

At the same time, I think the owner fucked up the relationship last year with his on-pitch intervention.

It all went sour, and now it appears that Nuno saw the writing was on the wall with the owner being a bit of a tool.

That's why, with no affiliation at all, I like what Brighton, Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham to an extent, have been doing

Be nice to finally get him off the wage bill

😱 is he still on it ?

... & I thought Santos ripped us off last season.

To be fair Blackpool do have a good squad but were hit with injuries which was unfortunate for Bruce so when Evatt gets them back fit he should have no problems moving them quickly up the table. Tangerine fans are certainly excited about his appointment so let’s see if he can deliver for them.

he lost the plot and tinkered too much after Oxford.

This is and will always be untrue. A fiction created to justify your own defence of him, even in light of his obvious failings.

He'd already been found out months prior, he tried to fix it but didn't understand what was broken, what wasn't working. Thus his fix broke us even more.

I’ll air on the side of matter of opinion rather than fact.

Hard to prove or disprove your theory as most of it is conjecture.

One decent game against Oxford, Maghoma not getting injured so early, we could be talking about an entirely different story.

What is certain in my mind is that post Oxford he started doing things he wasn’t doing previously; less time at the training ground, god bothering, yoga sessions, internal fall-outs, paying more money out (wasting it) than he’d ever done before, buying clones of the same type of player. Just some of the crazy things that weren’t happening pre Oxford.

IMO your posts can be confusing and contradictory - evident in how you’ve started to turn against Schumacher as if you know more and have the solutions all up your sleeve from 1000’s of miles away.

Agree with most of that

It was like Evatt had some sort of brain fart and him being a stubborn bastard would not admit he got it wrong

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I reckon he'll do well wherever he ends up. On the whole, he was very good for us until the Oxford debacle, and you've got to assume he's learned a few lessons from it all.

Wont change the way he sets up his teams,,,,,He was found out 9 months before Oxford when both Carlisle and Wigan destroyed us at home.

All predictable including his backroom staff......Wonder if he will appoint a ex Blackpool player who has no coaching badges to wash the strips.

On the plus side he may take some of our deadwood come January

And the narrative wasn't just Evatt did well and then it fell apart at the end.

There was so many times in between where it fell apart. So many big games that we bottled under him for many many years.

Schuey has got a lot to prove. But already he's got us beating and competing  against promotion teams around us. And even more importantly, not only stopped the Wigan rot. But even battered them last month.

Evatt is a decent manager and we did good things under him. But goodness me was there a lot we did bad too.

For me the biggest flaw from the Evatt era is still an issue now and it's our inability to make the possession and chances count when we're on top. Then one fuck up at the back and we're losing.

The worrying thing is that he's actually inherited a decent nucleus of players.

There's some talent in Bowler, Ennis, Imray and Horsefall.

Can see him having a look at Santos in Jan.

maybe not the biggest flaw, but most irritating thing for me was watching us spend five minutes to work a decent crossing (or shooting) opportunity in the final third ... then end up back with the CB or GK one or two passes later.

Number of times I've thought to myself "what the fuck was the point of all that..."

Anyway, the king is dead, fuck him.

If there was a decent replacement available, point 9 is the first time I'd have got rid

What was point 9, out of interest??

Not on the old twitter, so can't see anything past that.

20 of his controversial media comments. This one was on March 24 when he talked about re-evaluating his position in the summer.

We'd lost to Blackpool and Wigan which rattled us all

Then beat Cambridge

We had a huge midweek game coming up against Barnsley

And in the press conference he went into self pity mode, about how tough it was, and that he might revaluate his position in the summer

Proper needy cunt
