Lincoln (H)

Well here we go. The excitement builds for our first game. Can we build on 2 years of progress in this division and a good pre-season to state our claim for promotion.

First decision for Evatt will be whether to go with a number 10 behind 2 forwards - if he does CMG is the man.

But I think he’ll grow into the first 11 - he can make a difference next week coming from the bench.

Just 3 positions up for grabs then for me. I think Morley will pip Thomason, Adebeyejo will go up top with Charles and Iredale wil go LCB (if fit, if not Forrester did very well today.

                      Baxter

       Jones.     Santos.   Iredale

Dac.Cog.   Sheehan Morley.  Williams

                      Dempsey

            Charles.     Adebeyejo

The forum definitely has a different feel to it these days. There are a handful of prolific posters who tend to flood threads and have changed the mood of the place. I'd bet they don't know any Hudder

I can't remember if I've already posted this because I'm pissed. But just to put things into perspective - we were loaning players form Lincoln a few short years ago. The progress we've made sinc

Why the hatred over an ex player that did his best for us? A bit over the top if you don’t mind me saying. Hamilton might not be good enough for us now but he was half decent in his short spell here and is a proven player at this level, and scored the winner here recently. If playing for Man U in a past life is a crime...we’re better than that.

I thought Hamilton was decent today. Certainly no animosity from me or anyone near us.

Fantastic result. Great to no see no upset Zombies.

Really enjoyed the game, I thought we were very good without being spectacular.

Some passages of play were as good as we’ve seen under Evatt and with a bit more composure/luck in front of goal, we might have ended up above Barnsley in the table.

Room for improvement, but a solid start

Football is back

new seats , ESU perfect start to the season

Really enjoyed todays game

Pretty much my thoughts on the game. Enjoyable but not at our best for a lot of it - we're at our best when we move it quicker but it seemed a bit lethargic at times today which was a worry right up until Victor's excellent leap and header gave us that two goal cushion. We do tend to wear teams down with our passing but if we went at it faster from the start it would be better for my ticker. I'm with Evatt on this one:

I'm not paying £50 to listen to that.

Just back into civilisation. Great to read up on our good start. One swallow does not a summer make etc. but you can't ask for more than that in our first outing.

Welcome back! COYWM.

The one thing which really pleased me and hopefully it's a sign of things to come, while we were generally on top, we really turned the screw in the 5 minutes leading up to the 2nd. We quickly found our goal which was brought about by people having a pop from distance leading to corners

Wembley ?

Good shout

Matchday bus was like a tour of Bolton so they’ve squeezed the routes but it stops everywhere now, obviously they can’t help extra time but still crawling past the main entrance at 5.40 is tedious

Think it will be train over in future providing they’re running

Agree 100% we said similar about the second. 4 corners on the run as the first 3 were cleared we had the quality and composure the recycle the ball and eventually the pressure told.
One criticism last year was that we had periods of sustained possession but periods of sustained pressure. Was great to see.

Hands up. It was a pissed up post, a bit OTT.

They used to stop other cars on car park to let the buses off, no longer enough stewards on car park to do this.

Very professional performance.  Williams iredale and Dempsey superb - although nobody really had a bad game.

clean sheet and goals from set pieces.

got to back it up with something next Saturday.

Didn’t even realise he was playing tbh but that’s probably because I got in at the last minute. Recall him acting the cunt for Accy, but also having a very good game when they beat us in April.

We didn’t miss much with Jensen, mind.

If someone has a better midfield 3 than that in this league I’d love to see it. I know we generally need cover in there but as long as they stay fit they’re untouchable. Dempsey all action, presses and wins the ball back so quickly. Sheehan is absolutely class. Might not be the standard type of CDM but not many others can keep and move the ball like he can.

my only gripe and something that looks like it needs work on is the top 2 “partnership” there’s no link up play / holding up for each other at all. They both want to do exactly the same job but on opposite sides of the pitch. DC coming in short and trying to stumble his way through bodies is infuriating. Be interesting to see if (and he should be doing) if he sits on the shoulder more when CMD comes in. Just to give him space to work

Good team performance Dempsey MOM for me but also thought Iredale and Williams played well.

If I wasn’t on a flight to Alicante I’d revive AVFTOS. Be back for Fleetwood.

@Mantra, fancy doing the honours?

I’m currently in Amsterdam on a long weekend so unfortunately I’m off duty too but seems like some comments have been picked up here already

I think they need to tell Dion to just not bother coming short and stay on the last centre half looking to make runs. Everything he does is at 100 miles an hour. He's an instinct player, thats why he's so good in the box. He just ends up running down blind alleys when he gets it deep or having too many touches. We don't need two forwards dropping deep and it's not his game.

Meh. I liked it.

Happy clappers out in force.

We created 3 chances.

Still a mid table team at best.

"A loser like you" hey? Fuck me what a prick, this used to be a decent forum.

Anyway, today was superb. Maybe I should have done 59 games this season rather than last. Back to Nottingham we go.

Whats this about mate?
