I was talking to John McGinlay about this yesterday and he said that Evans has set the pitch up to try and prevent our passing game by not rolling it and letting the grass grow longer than they would normally have it. Theres not a lot Evatt can do about that type of outthinking. Edited April 2 by freds dad

Why can't we do that all the time? Why give the away side any sort of advantage? I know ST holders are a bit precious about their seats and may resist a reshuffle - and it would be a bit shit if we didn't get an end at away games, but to me it makes every sense to stick the away fans out of sight and ideally out of mind. Do we really get that much trouble at home games these days `that policing could be an issue? I just think we should do it every game. Because we'd have to sell cheap tickets every single game. Interesting that Evatt thought the players were too cautious in that game- this is something that still hasn't gone from the squad at times. frank_spencer
Always prefer Iredale in that left sided centre back over the other options whilst Johnston is injured. I think Toal and Geth are better players but both aren't suited to the LCB role. Our line up yesterday wasn't that different to the one that struggled at Stevenage but the swap of Forrester for a left footer and Bod for Jerome clearly worked wonders. Also what's the point in the B team if with a bajillion forwards injured not one of them gets a spot on the bench at least.
Moderators Casino Posted April 2 Moderators Share Posted April 2 I think sithole is a striker Hed be earning more at tesco Its all about producing a player once in a while Possibly khumbeni might be a success but its pretty clear B team isnt what old school reserve team was Irish league and even non league is a step up
gonzo
I think Iredale as been unlucky in not being selected this season. Always does well for me.

Moderators Casino Posted April 2 Moderators Share Posted April 2 Iredales first touch takes us forwards, Toals is invariably side or back Hopefully we can get him to let the ball across his body
Stig
4 minutes ago, Casino said: Iredales first touch takes us forwards, Toals is invariably side or back Hopefully we can get him to let the ball across his body Iredale has been good all season I've thought. Has a goal in him, is really good at nicking the ball off a forward who's trying to shield it and he's got the usual Aussie confidence - seems a good leader to have on the pitch. But the main thing is he's left footed and just makes that defence more balanced. Very unlucky to not have played more

Him and Toal are looking a good combination just now. Toals passes are not always attack minded but he seldom wastes one. Agreed but hes a massive part of the slow nature of our play when teams sit back On the upside, looking at Barnsley away, he can be very effective when on his good side
Site Supporter Cheese Posted April 2 Site Supporter Share Posted April 2 Toal and Iredale were very good yesterday. Toal in particular put a proper shift in. Santos was the biggest liability of the back 3, but just a bit rusty from his time out.

Wanderlust
Toal was immense yesterday and he gets forward loads to support the attack, so yes he does pass it back to Santos or whoever is in deep space to start the move - as does Sheehan and the rest of the midfield. I rate Toal as a top signing - quality international player, only just turned 25 with his best years ahead, deceptively pacy, set piece goal threat and all at a bargain basement price. FFS get off his back.

Pleasantly surprised to see seats again being made available behind the goal for home supporters. Think we will do well to sell them again considering tickets this time are £30 and not £10. Regardless, maybe another boost like Evatt mentioned yesterday. Edited April 2 by Lostock Whites

Santos at his best is imperious but he's too prone to a mistake so swings wildly from prime Alessandro Nest to Titus Bramble at his worst. Hence why he's still in League 1 Edited April 2 by frank_spencer
