I didn't actually realise he was born in Bolton (it's strange that he ended up starting his career down in Plymouth)

The town's produced some proper English centre forwards in its time

His father was a Jock who played 110 games for us before going to PNE, Glossop(!) then Plymouth where presumably he remained after retirement.

Paul Mariner.

Francis Lee (more a striker, than centre forward maybe).

 

.... & no, I'd not realised Jack was a Bowton lad.
