I want to see our strongest mentality players out there, so I'd give Mcatee a start and maybe Arfield in centre mid. Johnston would be great on for Iredale if he's ready. Really need to get out flying and quieten down the away fans... Whatever language they're chanting in They'll be singing in English on the way to the ground mate and then Welsh when they're in amongst us. Unless Cheese is attending, then it will be English the whole time of course. But aye, couldn't agree more. A huge test. This might sound dramatic, but I'm not sure what faith I'll have left in Evatt if it's another Oxford, Wigan or Blackpool type game. It's not that we have to win, just feel we need to see a much improved mentality and not allowing teams to bully us.

Back when we had Preston at Cardiff in the playoff, I cadged a lift from a Bolton fan In Nottingham, and we picked up a couple in Ashby before heading down. For some reason or other a wrong turn got us going through Abergavenny - OK that would be fine, just turn around and sort it. But it was the day of the Abergavenny tractor parade. So we had to wait as dozens of farmers with tractors in varying states of disarray filed passed to the appreciation of the underwhelmed crowd. I recall one which had a flat-bed trailer behind it with a bloke and his three-legged sheepdog on it. As he passed, he waved at us - thanking us for taking to time to appreciate his rusting piece of 1930's junk as if we were frantically filling in our "I-Spy book of redundant farm equipment operated by inbred dullards", ready to post it off to Big Chief I-Spy for a certificate. Instead we were desperate to get a a playoff final. Which we did, thanks to some crafty overtaking of a knock-off Massey-Ferguson driven by some toothless bloke and his wife in a funny hat.

August 12, 20242 yr Am I remembering correctly, didnt we use to sing Burn your bungalow down, Taff at Burnden in the 80s? In Welsh, then English when they realised the Welsh could hear.

August 13, 20242 yr It's actually quite good for me we've got such a game / test first game Big away following Team that will be up for it The sort of game we struggled with last few seasons Time to see if all the reflection and hard work over the summer has paid off Probably helps that Wrexham are as likely to concede as score But this is a game we generally don't win (if you ignore the ones we do)

It's giving me palpations Like Zico says what a test this is. Big crowd, big away following, the wankathon that follows this lot, live on Sky, James McClean🥔, Phil Parky, first home game after summer of sucidial reflection and crash diets and a shit load of new signings and money spent. Good lord its a big one this.

August 13, 20242 yr 3-0, years walk in the park, the Welsh come crashing down to earth with a bump and can’t get near us, we wonder how it wasn’t 6, Collins with a brace and the new crowd favourite McAtee finishes it off, McClean sent off late on for a horror tackle after chasing shadows all game - Arfield, McAtee and GT are straight into him proving that we’ve found a bit of fight over the summer.
