Report last night reckoned Santos played him on, but whoever cocked it up, they need to work on it.

If you watch the goal on the video it's clear Johnston played him on.

Just watched it again, more carefully. 

GJ had dropped deeper to cover their lads-not sure if he could get out any quicker, or if he was a touch slow, but Santos adjacent to him could see where he was, and was perhaps not as switched on as he should be.

Micro analysis of course, but hopefully they will be working on the finer points.

Johnston was too slow, he jogged out.  The rest of the defence pushed out perfectly.  Santos hasn't got eyes in the back of his head and probably trusted Johnston to do his job.

Seems like you just want to blame Santos.  He is certainly to blame for a lot, and quite often, but in this instance I can't see he did anything wrong.

The goal really is a fluke, bloke controls the initial shot. Not sure Santos can be blamed for playing him on 😂😂

Yeah i get that. It's the fact he doesn't even try to get back once it's gone to the attacker. Just completely stops. Fair enough, he might not get back, but I'd like him to try. Other defenders in the shot do try if you watch it back

Yes.

He's switched off briefly. Whether or not GJ could/should have got back quicker, there is a bit of a lack of awareness.

what and how is Ricky santos to blame for that? Answers on a postcard?

Jonson playing barrow lad onside by some dosile defensive positioning. 
has anyone noticed or just some sort of agenda against santos?

One of the saddest days of the clubs history against Exeter shortly followed by one of the best against barrow.

Doesn't need to be an agenda does there.

Players making tiny mistakes that prove costly.

Evatt himself has said the defending needs looking at, and such errors, whoever makes them need ironing out.

Johnston needed to be quicker to push out, a brief lapse in concentration maybe.

Similarly Santos not aware of position of his defensive partner- another's lapse in concentration. 

Not easy things to get bang on, but that's what good defences need to push towards.

I vaguely remember a piece about Tony Adams, and his organising of the defense, shouting etc, and lots of work on the training ground. 

Like a well-oiled machine they were.
