White on Tyne Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Used to have some ding dong (do) battles with the Spartans before they became shit. Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Interesting that Big Dave got a loan at a higher level than Warren. Suspect it’s partly a timing issue but obviously about what other clubs are looking for - a hulking great unit up front vs a sleight right winger type. Quote

Is Warren slight, I thought he was more a stocky type? Seems to be fulfilling his potential at Shots so hopefully he can continue it back with us afterwards? Quote
Zog1 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Shame for Warren because he looked great preseason, reminded me of Zach Clough. By all accounts he's doing well at Aldershot, he'll be playing League 2 next year no doubt. Edited February 1 by Zog1 Quote

He's fairly tall but he's not stocky I'd imagine he'll need to go out and prove himself in L2 before we consider giving him opportunities here Quote

It's encouraging but still a small sample And there's also a big gulf between the NL and competing for promotion in L1/hopefully competing in the Championship Fingers crossed he keeps developing but he's old enough to count towards the squad limit now and it looked to me that he had quite a lot of developing to do when he played for us earlier this season Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 1 Posted February 1 He was fine pre season, and arguably more effective than McAtee. Got his injury and perhaps lost that opportunity to push for a first team place. May well have gone out on loan anyway, but I suspect there will be something in there for us. We have many wide players at the moment, but majority on loan. If they all go back, then he may well come into the reckoning. Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I have to be honest, I think that's a huge claim as things stand He's currently playing non-league and we could feasibly be in the Championship next season Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) It is. Nevertheless SS did say they'd been witching him for some time, and it wasn't on a whim. They must feel there is something to work with. Edited February 1 by Tonge moor green jacket Quote

Of course, he looked like he might have potential and was presumably available for vey little so we took a punt But to think he'd be replacing ACD as first-choice winger next season, he'd surely be contributing to our first-team now and instead he's been sent on loan to a club two leagues below us Quote

We can recall Warren from Aldershot and play him (non-league not subject to transfer window). Same with Inwood. Can’t do that with Abimbola. Makes sense to send the more likely youngsters to the National League. Quote
meanderson93 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Are we certain Warren is an out and out wide player? Seemed to lack the dribbling and creativity for me, long term I'd say he's a striker. Certainly got the build and the instincts for it. Quote
Rival Son Posted February 1 Posted February 1 That’s where he’s playing for Aldershot and both scoring and creating. Quote

Spent loads of my first 20 odd years up there. Loved that area and Durham generally, still visit whenever I can even though my relatives are long gone. If my parents hadn't moved to the North West for work in the early 70s I'd be a Sunderland fan. Quote

Yeah, that's all well and good, and where he played for his previous club. I just think when we saw him against higher quality opposition, he struggled to trouble his fullback much. Certainly happy to be wrong though and with a bit of development can play all across a forward line. Quote
