Thought Dalby finally looked like a proper target man - and was well supported for a change, Simons anchored the midfield well, Conway had a good game, the back 3 worked well (stick with it) and there were some good cameos from both McAtee and Dempsey when they came on. Thought Tutu was good but he dwelt on the ball at times and ACD wasn’t at his best but overall our passing and movement was improved- we just need to find a more clinical edge and bag goals when we’re in the ascendancy as it wasn’t that comfortable as per. Better though - an away win with the added bonus of it being Wigan. Could live with those stats every week Quote

It wasn't without fault of course, you'll not always get a deflected goal and without that we'd be ruing our misses again, but we won, so well done and on to Stevenage 👍 No deflection on that Sheehan shot today, just a ton of swerve (and slightly dodgy goalkeeping) Quote

Dr. Feelgood Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Phew. Good ... at last. Deserved but I'd not have been surprised if we'd let one in just because that's what we do. Quote

onefinfrandsen Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Great win, could and should have been more comfortable, but under the circumstances and the form we’ve been in it’s a fantastic result. Conway best player on the pitch. Quote
tshape Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) I expected us to get beat today so well happy with 3 points. Bonus it's against them men. Edited January 17 by tshape Quote

The team's accuracy is almost always in the low to mid 80s. So maybe you're right! 😀 Quote

Didledee Posted January 17 Posted January 17 13 minutes ago, Stig said: No deflection on that Sheehan shot today, just a ton of swerve (and slightly dodgy goalkeeping) Aye looking at the highlight closely it was a lot of swerve, no keeper should get beat when it goes almost bang on middle of goal, must have been a predetermined dive to his right and the swerve as taken it past that poor decision. Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Just watching the highlights, and the goal again, and I'm convinced the ball brushes a Wigan players arm/body and it imparts the tiniest amount of extra side spin. Almost imperceptible. Good to see Burstow getting the crowd wound up earlier too. Quote

London Wanderer Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Beautiful. Loved Schuey ‘s passion at the end. Shown everyone than there was no issue with him & Sheehan. Great performance & energy. Result goes down to the manager for me, tweaked some things and you could tell we’d been working on set pieces & getting more crosses in. Right subs at the right time too. Great energy from McAtee. We still have to start turning results like this into runs though. Got to get a point or three Tuesday & push on for our home games. We are woeful in front of goal though. It’s a worry. Have to be looking for a goalscorer & creating more chances. Quote

Ever team has a blip in the season unless they're tearing the league up and have loads of money. Let's hope that was ours and we can put it behind us now. Few fresh faces coming in should help too! worthy10 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Mutch improved performance today against a biz wigan team. A better showing from simons today, particularly in the 2nd half. Like many sports, confidence is so important, and he seemd to have a bit of that today. Need to push on and get a good run going... Quote
Blondi Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I presume Schumacher will be sticking with this formation for the foreseeable? If so, wonder if he'll be having a rethink about transfer targets, we don't really have much cover for the wing backs and we'll probably need another central defender and a striker? Quote
Whitesince63 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Just hope SS sticks with the same line up for Tuesday, they looked so much more like a team and we now need to build on that and let their confidence grow. Should have been a bigger win but that should really give everyone a big lift tonight. Well done Wanderers a real team effort. Quote
