Zozzy Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 In reply to traf: being critical does not make your opinions worth less, it just amazes me that Bolton fans can have so many critical views of the team/club/manager at this time in our history.......These are the days of our life. I don't have an agenda, I just say it as I see it and support BWFC I don't think everything is perfect and I do have my own criticisms e.g. the stewarding and policing at modern stadiums. In reply to carlos: I accept that your agenda is having BWFC Plc treat it's supporters with the courtesy and respect they deserve and I am also against the ??1.50 surcharge. I think you are taking the comments by Allardyce out of context. What he is saying to the supporters is "Look what we are doing on the pitch for you and look what we are spending on your team. Now get of your arses down to the ground and support us in return and get behind the team." There isn't much more that Sam can do. If I was in his position I would have been well pissed off with the crowd in the last few home matches. Look back at the video that Satan put on recently(the crowd at the Fenerbache match), and look back at footage of the Anfield Cop in the seventies. We are a disgrace, sometimes I am ashamed to be a Wanderer and I'm not surprised if Sam is sometimes ashamed of us. If he fukcs off to Newcastle or ManU who can blame him. One last thing I want to say before I get off my soap box is that I am talking about the so called fans that can afford it and just couldn't be bothered, not the genuine fans that are being priced out because of their finances/more important commitments.

zurichwhite Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Well said mate. Once again you bring things into perspective Zozzy - tells it how it is Well said Zozzy. The crowds for the fiver a game should be interesting. In the initial period in the Prem, the Club took the piss out of ALL its fans and now it feels the backlash. Sam seems to forget that fans have memories. So agree, some kind of non-anorak fans forum is needed. In fairness, the Club has slashed prices for the next 2 games but it now needs to totally review the pricing policy for next season because what incentive does a ST holder have to fork out 460 quid when the ground doesn't sell out for L'pool, most of the games are on telly and the crap games cost a fiver for non-ST holders. Now that we're likely to receive about another 15m from the TV rights, gate money is increasingly less of an issue. Even if we had a full house every week from ST holders paying this season's prices, our gate money would be around 12m compared to TV money of around 40-45m. So if the Club really had its fans interests uppermost in their minds and wanted to create a great atmosphere, why not set a pricing and seating policy that keeps everyone happy. 1. Is it that much better in the upper tiers, think not, have one price for all parts of the ground 2. continue to give away fans the upper and half the lower tier and charge them a flat 20 quid. For the Fulhams and Charltons, upper tier only depending on their demand 3. for adults, ST holders pay 300 quid, kids and old uns 100 quid - works out about 15-16 quid a game, fiver for kids etc 4. for the Cat A games plus non televised decent Cat Bs, pay on the day fans pay 20 quid, tenner for kids 5. for remaining Cat B and Cat Cs, charge pay on the day fans 10 quid, kids go free. 6. FA cup and UEFA, charge everyone a tenner, fiver for League cups - including away fans. ST holders have priority. 7. arrange reciprocal pricing for opposition eg. 20 quid tops when travelling. accept the Chelseas of this world won't budge, but many would. Not being too arsed, I'm using rough numbers but... 1. maximum gate money for one match this season eg. Manure = 750,000 x 19 games = 14-15m (so this is the maximum we could ever expect if we're champions unless they charged 50 quid a game) 2. average gate money this season= about 500,000 x 19 = just under 10m 3. new scheme where at least 90-95% of ground is full and 20,000 ST holders again = 8m So the difference between 2 and 3 is negligible when TV money is 40m+. Even if it's 3m out, still makes for having a Club that respects its fans. In any event, increased merchandising, food, drinks, parking swallows up a good part of the diff. Finally (yawn) 1. allow sections of the ground to stand up eg. lower tier north stand, some or all of ESL 2. replace devere's catering with a company that guarantees that no-one waits for more than 10 mins
bolty58 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Only my opinion but, until Mophead started with the knobheds, tossers and 'give you a slap' malarkey, I was agreeing with him. Those who slag Sam will see the difference when he eventually goes. Don't like Sam slagging the fans though. The club should be doing more for the working class types to get into the games. A day out that burns a third or more of a blokes wages is just not on.

The ??5 offer should be interesting and hopefully some season ticket reducions next year As for sacking Sam.....get real
Ani Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 i do not think we should sack sam, quite the opposite we should be trying to get him to commit to another 10 years. but this all started because for the second time in recnt weeks he moaned about the crowd. i understand his frustrations and share them but he also needs (as does the rest of the club0 to take a bit of time to understand the reasons and to thansk those of us who turn up week in week. i do not need to defend carlos he can do that himself but despite the fact he has nt got a season ticket this year he has been to the vast majority of games. against city sam moaned the crowd did nt create the atmosphere to motivate the players, i am sorry but if they are being paid bigger and bigger slics of the TV money then they shoudl be able to motivate themselves along with the highly paid coaching staff i have backed sam since he came here even when some have doubted i have always had faith. however i will criticise individual desicions whilct recognising overall his record is superb. whatever people feel about his comments being justified have they been constructive or useful ? it seems it has bolton fans rowing with bolton fans which i am sure is the last thing he intended but that is the result of his action. carlos got dragged into this by saying it is things like this that detract from him being a legend and to be fair that is true, some people will say all that matters is the results but for me bolton wanderers has always been about more than reults hence going to games in the dark days. some people seem to accept being treated badly by the club and its officials beause we are good on the pitch, that is up to them, i too will always follow bolton but no fucker is going to tell me i can not say my piece when i think the club is missing a trick. surely as a business the club and its manager are concerned the fans views ? final word (for now) if sam is bothered by the crowds does he think what he has said is going to improve the situation ? if not what was the point of coming out with it ? IN SAM WE HAVE FAITH.

Andybwfc Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Come on, lets be honest here! Who voted for Sam in the BEN Voting poll when Todd was sacked? I DID'NT! I voted for Phil Brown and he's done fukk all! I laughed at the thought of Sam coming here but now (I take it all back what I said when he was first appointed and then I laughed my fuccking head off when Gartside give him a 10 year contract)........he is a legend and as changed this club around! I hang my head in shame!

randy_west Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Although I cant abide the chap and think he has little charisma , as a manager I dont think you would get any better and on that level I respect his abilities and what he has achieved. With regards to making statements about the support - he can say what he wants IF he can back it up and on the provision that he accepts alientaion with the some of the support - which to me is pretty obvious will occur. The problem with managers and footballers - hardly any have been real football fans. They dont know what its like taking half a day off work on a tuesday or wednesday to follow your team and spend a days wage in the process - they simply have no idea or concept of what being a football fan is like - none at all. It's common knowledge over the years many have laughed at supporters of the clubs they represent. On the basis of this lack of real undertsanding, I would question if any manager or player is really qulaified to pass comment on football supporters. I'd be inclined to say no.

White Army Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Dont talk so much utter shite!!! Big Sam is Bolton's answer to Jesus. All the ticket prices and the location of ground aint his fault. It pisses me right off when people are moaning about Allardyce, the real problems we have are the same at every premier league club and it's not down to Big Sam. Why don't you pricks put up a flag at Arsenal with sack Sam on it then he'll walk out and we'll all be happy then when were back in the big time (4th Division)
