enzo gambaro
No, he didn't. He got in because more people voted for him than other/s. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-7533.html Only 37% turned out last time. RedKen got 55% x 37% = 20.35% of the electorall roll = not a majority. And whose fault was it that the other 63% didn't vote?

buckhurstwhite
And whose fault was it that the other 63% didn't vote? Nobodys, because the 63% are either smackheads, illegals, asylum seekers, asians etc who woudn't know how to vote. maaarsh
folk who know about these things reckon a defeat for ken and big losses in the councils would be good for gordon brown tis easy to see where theyre coming from A defeat for Ken will be hilarious. Absolute disaster of a mayor, but when his concession speech where he blames Brown will be ragging hilarious.
globaldiver
And whose fault was it that the other 63% didn't vote? Gosh, the usual suspects, probably. Politicians, of all colours the BBC, for sure Tony Blair The Tory Party, for not understanding how Livingstone managed to stay in power Labour, for destroying education from the 1970s (Ann Taylor) Reasonable wealth Maggie, for not taking on the Civil Service (after other successes) etc

I live and work around London and have for a decade and it's been good times as far as I can tell. Obviously not down to Ken but what's he done so wrong? Boris is a f?cking joke, no policies, no brains, he is simply a well connected Toff. His rhetoric is exactly that, there's no substance to him whatsoever. Site Supporter Winchester White Posted May 1, 2008 Site Supporter Share Posted May 1, 2008 It has to be said, Boris is a bumbling fool and thank frig I am not in a situation where I had to vote either for him that codpiece Ken. Boris is funny though so he would get my vote considering it wouldn't effect me too much from afar! As for those who don't like 4x4's, tough shit. What is the difference between them and any large car? Do drivers of large Jags, Mercs or Audi's get the same stick even though most of them are bigger and more polluting than 4x4's? If someone wants to spend their hard earned on a car of any variety then so fucking what, what has it got to do with you!? Do you drive down a street and call everyone who lives there for having detached houses when their family could quite easily live comfortably in a semi or terrace? Course you don't, its about individual choice so do fuck off...

Looks like a good start, Lab -147 to date. With Boris "overcoming" Kenny later? Posh tosser or commie tosser? Great choice. You end up with a tosser. Could be worse. We could have Ruth Kelly. Oh dear, we do.

Ken's pissed money away on a gigantic scale, spent half his time trying to forge relations with racists and nut jobs in a desperate attempt to pander to minority groups to secure his electoral base, rather than trying to unite people, whilst ignoring the issue of gun crime or achieving anything significant (other than the congestion charge I'll grant; thank god we don't have congestion anymore...) Just going back to what Smiffs said before about the I vote Labour cos my dad did possie.....getting the distinct impression its the same but with a tory slant on it for BD. For the 1st time every I didnt vote yesterday.....thats cos I was on the piss in Leeds and forget to fill my postal vote thing in - wasnt a protest!.......saved me the tough choice of possibly voting tory for the 1st time ever. That being said....the main reason I dont vote Tory (aside the fact that traditionally my family are Labour voters) was because of the damage Thatcher did when she was in power. You think the economy is bad now (I'm not seeing it by the way) in the 80's - it was so much worse. Chances are Davey C will have my vote at the election - Brown is classic case of a good number 2; who isnt a good number 1 - bit like LSL. Having said that BD - I agree with you on Ruth Kelly -

This created an impression with a 7 year old and I could never vote any other way. Much of the time, though, the Tories don't represent many of my views; I'm very liberal, laissez faire. My father was first a socialist who went to Cuba in 1968, then a labour councillor in the early '70s. Then left the party due to the unions, was a Tory in the '80s and now spoils his ballot paper (they do count them as a non of the above) We don't agree on politics very often but I respect his view because he has age, exprience and and understanding of political history. However, we are from different generations and see things differently. Will I change from my current position? Maybe, its hard to say but I will always listen and learn from those who have reasoned arguements and not those who think that Richard Littljohn somehow speaks from the 'real' Britain. Did anyone see him on question time? What a reactionary toss rag.

Members bolty58
There is absolutely no doubt that age and wisdom bring a clearer understanding of the folly of left wing politics. Many start off believing the utter tripe of 'a fair share for all' whilst at the same time cutting their 'brothers' throat to get any overtime hours instead of him. Many of the major 'socialist' politicians and union leaders down here are multi millionaires. Fooking hypocrites with the front to stand up at their shiyte conferences and sing the Red Flag. Funniest of all are the dumb, duped union sheep who can't see they are being taken for a ride. Simple fact is, socialism and communism are against the laws of human nature. We all want the best for our kids and loved ones and some of us are prepared to graft our b0llocks off to achieve that. What is wrong with folk like that having a better car; home; shagging partner due to money earned from sheer hard work? Nowt.
globaldiver
From the BBC website 1423 Senior Labour MP Ian Gibson said Mr Brown had six months - up to the party conference - to change his policies and move the party forward or risk losing the next general election. I just can't see G Brown changing his policies, in his mind, he is right, his is the only way, bit like the knight in Monty Python, he will go down, spewing out the same old stuff/lies. The funniest one was his criticism off the off-balance sheet activities of Banks. This, from the guy who has single handedly doubled (or more) the civil service pension problem for future generations and dumped billions of off balance sheet problems via PFI. Lost one eye? Completely blind.
