It'll be interesting to see if any of these clubs start playing funny buggers.

We've agreed ?7M with Chelsea, but they won't pay what Cahill wants (allegedly)

If Spurs/Utd offered ?6M and agreed to Cahills wage demands, I wonder where that would leave us.

I know we could l just say "If you won't pay ?7M then you can fuck off" - but are we in a position to turn down such an offer? - I'm guess ing that Coyle will want replacements in sooner rather than later and he'll need the cash for this

7m is spectulative anyway isnt is?

aye it is, but it seems the be the figure most of the news agencies have settled on........it could of course be a lot lower, I'm not sure we'll ever know. Either way, if another lcub offers less than the amount we have agreed with Chelsea, but will match Cahills wage ambitions, then something will have to give

Yes but the way we are going and with other centre halves in the frame in sides performing better I doubt he would be 1st choice come June if he stayed with us. Just an opinion mind.

Must say that Cahill looks a miles better player than Jones at present.

Was always suspicious of someone having difficult knee surgery keeping the spring in his jump to play center half.

Jones is hopeless in the air and never gets off the ground.

Like Tommy Docherty said about Marvin Hinton, "you could'na get a Green un under his feet when he jumps",

I'm also not convinced Gary now wants to go to Chelsea- earlier on after an England game, he seemed to issue a thinly disguised come and get me plea.

Not sure it is now purely about money.

There is reportedly unrest in their camp with regard to AVB and senior players.

They're lacking consistency.

Does he want to go, then AVB lose his job, and the new chap not actually fancy Cahill in his first eleven?

SSN reported earlier rumours than United looking at his situation.

After last night, there is clearly still togetherness, and his situation doesn't appear unsettling.

Perhaps, given our recent run there is still some hope of survival, in which case it may be worth doing an Elmander.

If we could stay up then it would be worth losing ?6-7M.

I'm suddenly a lot more optimistic, and it might be worth the gamble

agree with this, as he didnt moan about the arsenal and spurs offers either.

landan not for him???

possibly holding our for a manure or liverpool offer?

you beat me to that. how about if he doesn`t actually want to go to a london team?

he is settled round here and it doesnt matter what you earn, it is unsettling to have to move lock, stock and barrel to a different part of the country.

his Mrs has said as much (to someone in my family by the way) they arent happy about any of it.

who knows which other clubs are sniffing around, maybe he thinks he might end up with splinters in his arse at chelski.

So it might not be so stupid to offer him a new contract, and put it in the public domain.

Any club truly interested, may look to get in quick, rather than leave it till the 30/1/12 with an offer of ?M4 or 5. Create an auction.

If none forthcoming, he might actually sign another short term contract, and we could still agree to a release fee- perhaps one a little lower than the previous.

I can understand if he doesn't want to go to London. If he wants to stay put then his choices are down to the obvious 3 local clubs - and I don't see either of them splashing the cash in the next few weeks, so it could be that he goes to one of them on a free at the end of the season. I would imagine he'll be looking for a Champions League team, and as pointed out furthe rup this thread Chelsea aren't guaranteed that as things stand. It may be that Spurs is the better bet for him as things stand (provided they come in for him)

If he stays and we stay up then it's great and the c?7M loss isn't a problem. If he stays and we still get releagted, then it does cause a problem for the money men at the club

I'm not sure he wouild sign even a short term contract - he knows his worth as a "Bosman free" signing, and that must be in his mind. If we did want him to commit to another new contract, it would probably have to be on upwards of ?100K per week to keep him I would have thought (people will say he's not interested in the money, but the stance he is allegedly taking with Chelsea shows this not to be the case) - and we aren't going to be paying anybody ?5M per year at this moment in time epsecially as we may not even be in this division in a few months time

Agree- but the contract could be a releatively small wage, with a large loyalty bonus when he goes. Just an insurance policy, so that when a club genuinely interseted comes in for him, we receive some money.

I get that, but we also have to rememebr that maybe he isn't of such interest to the big clubs if he has a price of upwards of ?10M attached to him. At the minute, he's pretty much holding all the cards. He can go to Chelsea for a paltry ?70K per week (allegedly) and get to play Champions League football this season and cement his place in the England swquad for the upcoming Euros. Or he can see out the contract and ensure a whopping signing on fee and a whopping weekly wage at his pick of top teams come the summer. He really can't lose, I don't see that he is going to jepordise any of that by signing a new contract with us, no matter what sort of loyalty bonus we put in place for him. He knoes as well as anybody he's only one bad tackle away from a career ending injury and as such you would think he will want to secure his financial future sooner rather than later

Hate to point this out, but they can't discuss salary until AFTER the clubs have agreed a fee. Not legally anyways.

He's free to talk to anyone now about next season, as he's out of contract in summer.

i wasn't aware he could talk to clubs in england

i know that he can't sign owt with anybody

abroad, he can do whatever he likes

Posted

And which clubs can now offer him the certainty of Champions' League football next season?

City - almost certainly;

Utd - more likely than not;

London clubs - none can be sure at this stage.

So to ensure that level next season, staying put for now is still attractive.

He appears nailed on for the England Euro squad, and likely for first XI.

By the way, his agent played in the Rotherham team that did the double over Chelsea 30 years ago (6-0 at Millmoor and 4-1 at Stamford Bridge).

But as it's all through agents then it matters not really.

thought this was was a Gary Cahill thread, not shares! Deal in near collapse.... I hope he gets a massive rendition of..one greedy b4st4rd tomorrow and then then hopefully leaves. What can the stumbling block be? On 20K per week, wants 40k but only being offered 30k! F**k me what can't you do with an extra 10k per week let alone the initial 20k! Tattoos only cost circa ?100 each so that's plenty to get your arms covered. P!55 me off these overpaid w4nkers.

whoops
