jturner
Andy needs to start shaping, I see that instead of just targetting the Grand Slams Roger fancies being the world number 1 for Xmas.
jayjayoghani
Because of Murray's fantastic end of year last year and the ranking points he has to defend, no way he'll end this year as No1.
jayjayoghani
Thinking about it, he probably needs to win the US Open, he only got to the QF's last year. He won every tournament last year after the US Open.
jturner
His absences due to injury mean either Roger or Rafa is certain to be No 1 before the end of August.
jturner
An injury to Roger means that Rafa will be the world number one next week. It looked as though 20 year old Zverev might be the next "star" to come through in his victory over Roger, but now knowing Roger was injured maybe not. Traf
Murray out for the rest of the season. Needs to get right for next year, as I can't see him going on too much longer. What real motivation does the happy-go-lucky fella have, though?

Sweep
Murray out for the rest of the season. Needs to get right for next year, as I can't see him going on too much longer. Apparently he could be down as low as world number 17 next year, due to his injury and poor form this year
Traf
But ranked at 17 with no points to defend, it makes it easier for a player of his undoubted quality to get back to the top. Because the rankings are fundamentally flawed.

Indeed, if he gets anything like back to form, he'll roar back towards the top again. I agree, the points system is definitely flawed
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 11, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2017 Nick kyrgios at it again. Why the hell don't they just ban him; or at least don't invite him to participate.
jturner
Its disappointing that there still isnt a top quality youngster coming through.Zverev is the best of a poor bunch up to 4 in the rankings but he's got beat by Del Petro today, it's just a cake walk for Nadal and Federer right at the top. Farrelli
Is it the end for Andy Murray as a top ten player ? He does not seem to be able to get over this hip injury and may need an operation. I really hope he can come back because he has been one of the best sportsmen we have ever produced.

Sweep
talk of a hip replacement thats a bit shitty if he needs a hip replacement, then he's done, it's a shame, but he's won the slams and been out greatest ever tennis player, we'll be waiting a long time for another with his talent to come along I think
bwfcfan5
Its not the way to go out. I'm fairly sure he'd have wanted a couple of years on tour winding slowly down. As it is, he's going to finish at the peak of his career. Which is nice in a way, frustrating in another. I can see him playing again (unless he needs the full op) but not really ever competing again.
