Rembrandt Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I think tonight was a shop window job for a few players for transfers and loans. Ream will never make a LB as long as I have a hole in my arse. Crossed my mind as well. Not that any other manager will be interested after displays like that. Agree about Ream. Quote
Rembrandt Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I would add that there are also all the under-20's we've signed, the young reserve players on the fringes of the first team (Vela, Eaves etc), & then the highly rated crop of youth players coming up. I doubt that many of these will make much impact this season, but as well as plugging the gaps in the current first team ( especially the full backs ), there are real signs that we are trying to build for the future as well. Agreed,.And I like that. But talking about 1st team pre-season friendlies - they're about match fitness, about building team structure & teamwork, improving passing & possession & defending ........ all the basic stuff we need for the opening match. Results pre-season don't matter; buidling towards opening day does. Or so I always thought. See what happens on Friday. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Positives: I like Hall; ZK MUST be closer to the door.Wishful thinking I reckon mate. He won't be leaving this transfer window. Quote
anewman Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 FC united 1 Bolton 1 Another game failed to win Quote
smeghead83 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 The fact that the club arranged just the 4 friendlies for the 1st team and that dougie is trying different line ups in each leads me to believe he really doesnt want the rest of the league to figure out his master plan, whatever that may be. I reckon we'll hit the ground running.at Burnley. It cant b any worse than last season at turf moor...can it? Quote

mannyroad58 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 As long as we give Burnley a good dicking i couldn't give a flying fuck if we lost all our friendlies Quote
PGA Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I saw enough under Dougie last season to know we'll be fine, friendlies are to just blow away the cobwebs. Coyle has won all his friendlies with Wigan, we all know when it comes to the crunch he's found wanting. Quote
gonzo Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) After the good run at the end of last season I seriously can't understand anyone being down and pessimistic about the start of this season. It really does baffle me. Folk getting in a tiz about a few pre season friendlies? Fuck me sideways. If we aren't there or thereabouts come may ill show my arse. Edited July 25, 2013 by gonzo Quote
Sweep Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 FC united 1 Bolton 1 Another game failed to win We should be whacking part timers like FC united. They're clearly not fit enough. Get them running up Rivvy with back packs full of bricks. No point giving them the ball to mess about with until they're fit enough Quote
PGA Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I think the fact we only arranged 4 "proper" friendlies shows Freedmans attitude towards them. Season starts 3rd August. Quote

DazBob Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Carlisle "highlights" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzClraw7LVA Thanks Well, from that I've come the following conclusions: Hall again looked very promising. Chungy was lucky not to have his leg snapped again. In the first 1:45 of the video I saw enough to convince me that Ream will never be a LB. Quote
Sweep Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Chungy was lucky not to have his leg snapped again. That's because we were palying a lower ranked league team, and the players always try harder in the tackle in order to "make a name for themselves" so you're more likely to sustain a serious injury when playing them Quote
jules_darby Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Their goal Knight ball watches and helps nobody, then when they score petulantly throws his arms around like a spoilt kid That's not captain's behaviour IMO Quote
