MichaelEP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Pre season!!! I'm sure people made comments year in year out when allardyce was in charge!!! We made Europe with him!!! Wake up and relax!!! FAKE GLORY HUNTING FANS!!! Go away Quote
victor meldrew Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 new ball boys kit is rubbish, transfer badge. Â anyway if tonight is anything to go by , we will be down by christmas.. Quote
stevieb Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Both have minor injuries and rested as a precaution. Â Got a mole in the physio room too or was this discussed at board level? Quote
QFPants Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Andrews very poor tonight, Baptiste looked no better than Mears (this is not a positive) but Tierney and Hall looked lively Quote
medwaywhite Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Ngog was warming up before the match, thought tonight was crap, way behind the movement and speed of the Spanish team Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Pre season!!! I'm sure people made comments year in year out when allardyce was in charge!!! We made Europe with him!!! Wake up and relax!!! FAKE GLORY HUNTING FANS!!! Go away Were you there? Have you been to any of the pre-seasons? Â Last year for me, unless it's abroad & I make a holiday out of it. Â Andrews should never wear a white shirt ever again.... I can't be arsed explaining anything else, I just can't be arsed. I am however worried, that is all. Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Good god!! Â We're doomed, or you've got glaucoma Quote
KP Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 He was shit, but the other 2 worse. Pratley chased shadows and Medo was either giving the ball away or kicking people. Quote
Henry_VIII Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Some horseshit on here tonight....  Betis, better team, typical Spanish pass & move or as some say tippy tappy shit....  Both of our full backs liked to overlap, both steady not spectacular( that's what's expected from them)...... Knight & Wheater ok....ish, yellow/red card waiting to happen.... Andrews quiet, did his job but Spearing does it better, I think we need him.... Medo, calm down you're a good player, don't get involved.... Eagles, very quiet. Sordell ok but needs a partner....  Thought Beckford looked ok, a bit angry, which is good.  More importantly the canapés were outstanding, the tapas better but no draft beer, LOV is better.... Quote
Ratwhite Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 The comments on Andrews seem, on the whole, that he was cack. Good job Paul Ince is taking him (and Mills), to the donkey lashes then. Quote
jules_darby Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Does anyone know which spanish team is Jules Darby's favourite?Sticky Vicky's Benidorm Allstars I am actually genuinely gutted I couldn't go last night Quote
hughmungus Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Went along last night just to see if there was anything to make me change my mind about this season, simple answer is NO !. Â I can kind of see the system DF wants to play but he hasn't got the players to do it. The new signings are no better than the ones they replaced and I agree 100% about Andrews being poor. Â We need to ditch the idea of 4 lightweight midfielders and put 2 or 3 of the strikers together to run and the heart of a defence. Â Long season ahead folks. Quote
jules_darby Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) What system is that for those of us not there please Hugh?  BTW on FB the BWFC status reads  "Poor attendance tonight" (ok fair enough)  "I'm sure if we get to Wembley, we'll see you there" (bit naughty that bit after a Friday night friendly if you ask me) Edited July 27, 2013 by jules_darby Quote

heywoodwhite Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Every season I go to the home friendly and then wish I hadn't bothered. Only decided at quarter past 7 to dash round. Its only a tenner.  I though we looked lightweight in midfield but Hall and Tierney worked quite well together at times.  Should have had a goal very early on Hall (or was it Medo) through but keeper spread himself well.  Knight look lethargic at times. Hopefully that was just "pre season and not really trying too hard" attitude. I did here him shout and point a few times (Captain material)  Their first goal would not have been scored in a league game. Their player rode a challenge that would have been 10 time harder.  Subs came on very late and looked lively but not enough time to impact.  Their number 10 was a class above.  Overall typical pre-season match which initially made me think we are completely and utterly shite and then I think. . . . . . .it was only a friendly Quote
Rembrandt Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Both have minor injuries and rested as a precaution. Â Has N'gog featured at all in pre-season ? Â How 'minor' ? Quote
HazzyinBolton Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Difficult to take a lot from that game. Apart from a couple of Medo tackles it was played as a friendly & was nothing like the blood & thunder of a league game. Hard to judge our lads on the ball when we didn't have it most of the time! My player assessments:  Bogdan - Made a few great stops coming off his line, but got nowhere near their free kick - I called it in before he'd hit it. So no change from last season! Baptiste - Average. Didn't do anything to stand out. Wheater & Knight partnership - solid enough. They'll be more suited to battling against championship forwards than vs La Liga pass & move football. Tierney - battled, won headers, got forward. Like the look of him. Hall & Eagles - Both lively on the ball, particularly Hall. He'll get better as he gets more football. They kept switching wings throughout. Hall fluffed our best chance of the night from about 3 yards out. Medo - Similar performance from any you've ever seen from him. Lively. Andrews - Started averagely & faded. We won't miss him if he goes. Pratley - one of our better players for me last night. Put himself about, linked well with Hall. Sordell - Worked hard, had the odd shot but didn't see that much of the ball  Don't understand why Beckford only got about 15 mins. Can only assume Dougie's not starting with him v Burnley? My biggest concern was how lightweight we look when attacking. Don't know if I'm just too used to SKD after all these years, but we won't be winning much in the air & we seemed to lack someone to hold the ball up & bring others into play.  Only 1 friendly game vs better opposition, but on what I did see last night we're stil missing Dawson & Spearing or replacements for them. Horwich Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I dont care what anyone says about pre season etc...we havent a fooking hope of going up this season Quote

No I have been away all summer as the pre season was too short to catch a game, will be at burnley . I just can't believe so many people are moaning. Where's the pride??? Ridiculous Quote
hughmungus Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) As others point out, we are playing like we did in the Okocha/Nolan/Stelios days but with less skilled players obviously. They seem to always be looking for that cheeky little through ball which is fine but we simply dont have anyone to mop up if it goes wrong and then find ourselves running backwards after the ball. More than once last night I could almost smell the fear from Knight when they started to run at him with no Spearing to help. Â The teams we are (alledgely) going to be competing against will all play in a similar way which is why I fear we will get left behind due to not having a proper settled midfield. No-one yet knows how good Holden will be when he gets back from his holidays and by the time M Davies is match fit it could all be over. We need another midfielder in the Spearing role and a centre half who can step out and stop the runs before we get steamrolled. Â I noticed a few faces in the seats behind the dugouts who then disapeared down the tunnel after the game, looked like players who where having a look around but could not put a name to a single one. Eavesy Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 451? Don't know where freedman is getting that from considering our best spells last season came with 442. And that we have 5 strikers. 451 with Andrews as the deepest meant pratley and medo completely anonymous infront of him. And sordell has never and will never be a sole striker. Â Also. Anyone who thinks knight was poor last night is a complete bellend. And that's not IMO it's just fact. He didnt put a foot wrong. Won plenty in the air when defending good crosses. Made all the tackles he was required to. Â Are we the only team who take goal kicks and send our full backs up to win them? Quote
captainmed Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 If the club cannot be bothered to play on the Saturday and link it in with a family fun day (they call it marketing) then they don't deserve anyone watching. Â And to insult the attendance on the official twitter feed is un-professional. Â FFS I hope we improve for next week or were gonna get beat. Â I have a strong feeling that we may make a couple of big signings before then though. Â We need it. Quote
