gonzo Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 So mavies wouldn't take a paycut. And considering the fee was 750k is that the amount short he would be over 3 years? I wonder if you lot would sacrifice 250k a year... Even if he was on 750k a year, it's a third of his salary. Folk really have false expectations of players. . Id understand your point if he'd done anything in his career to suggest he was worth it. He's not. He's an injury prone soft arse who has flattered to deceive for the past 5 seasons. Hes A bog standard, bottom of the championship fairy demanding top dollar and jeopardising his parent clubs future whichever way you want to look at it. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I suppose that supports his case for hobbling off with as much loot as he can though? I suspect he'll be found out somewhere not far down the line (or break down again, and be treated much less well during any convalescence)... The dearth of lower status Premier clubs or decent Championship sides showing any interest suggests our view has always been a bit towards overrating this player. Quote

Blondi Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I bet Clough is glad he didn't sign for Bristol City, because according to reports Cotterill has been sacked! Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Cynics or bang on the money realists? Don't think anyone is being unrealistic, at some point he'll go. But the inference he doesn't really give a toss and should leave to help the club is frankly insulting to him. None of us know what he's really feeling and that is the reality. For what it's worth if he had been asked to go to save the club, then he's perfectly right to find the club he feels is best for him. Quote
jules_darby Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Medo was dogshit Constantly let men run past him, gave the ball away loads and when I saw him play for the development squad he was one of the worst players on the pitch Good riddance to a sulky bastard Quote
HomerJay Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Not a legend for relieving the club of his wages then... Quote
tomski Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Not a legend for relieving the club of his wages then...What are you getting at? If I do shit at my job I get sacked like most on here. Of course he is entitled to the pay out. But there lies the problem this crew we have mobbed together aren't built of the right stuff. Do you want us to be happy about this? Regarding Mark Davies he had the option to be viewed as a 25k plus option but oddly no one fancies it. To think he deserves to command that is bonkers Regarding giving up money. Plenty have, even tal Ben did at pompey Edited January 14, 2016 by tomski Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 As we seem to have sold another car park and now Medo gone do you think we might get a loan striker in who might save us from relegation? If eddies using his grey matter, this might be the best way to protect his assets and if successfully saves us from relegation might find him a buyer. Come on Eddie you know it makes sense. Listen to uncle Mounts.???? Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) I still don't understand what ED's game is, or has been. The end game is to sell the club, that I have no problem with, the route he's been taking I strongly disagree and have a big problem with because I think it's so wrong it's unbelievable. I'm feeling he's had a change of heart and he's looking to change tack, been saying this for a while but he needs to maybe invest a little more money in for the short term stability of the club and to remedy our league position and if successful he will find it easier to sell, and enable us to off load a few high earners at the end of the season, hopefully still in the championship. I live in hope. Edited January 15, 2016 by Mounts Kipper Quote

I'd say he's probably done that last season when Lennon came in I suspect he's saying enoughs enough in the just one more and it will attract a buyer it's for sale for a quid what else can he do?? Flannel Truscott Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Can we loan players while under embargo? Quote
Eddie Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) We get one player off the wage bill, get some short term cash in by selling assets and people want to start adding to the wage bill again. Am I missing the sarcasm? Edit: I've just re-read what you mean mounts, ie ED cover it to the end of the season and then start this process. For me though it's just another gamble which has got us in this mess! We've got to start cutting now and cutting as much as possible. Edited January 15, 2016 by Eddie Quote
enzo gambaro Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 So from reading the article in the BEN (not nailed on gospel, I know), Davies has agreed personal terms for a move he hasn't asked for and Wednesday have done all manner of pissing about after ensuring he didn't play against them on Tuesday night. I'm not sure how much of this is his fault. So dog's abuse every kick at Forest tomorrow, then? Quote

Can understand folk worrying about adding again to the wage bill, but surely it's a bit of low risk low level investment to get us out of this hole could pay a big reward by staying in this league and help sell the club as I understand it one Middle East bidder walked away due to our league position, if Eddie completely had thrown towel in id expect Vela and Davies to have gone by now, hoping he's decided to slightly change tack. Blondi Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I think we're already planning for league 1.I'd be amazed if we made a signing. Paying someone 10k a week plus loan fee, I thought we were trying to cut costs with the sale of players, assets etc? It just doesn't make any sense! Quote
Bigtoe Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I wouldnt even play Davies. Head wasnt in it at Huddersfield... in fact he has been shite all season. It would just be our luck he ends up injured too. He can clear off for me or sit it out and sulk. Quote
