Zico Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I don't think this is an area any manager (SA, OC or anyone else) would have control over. It would, or should,be a requirement from the board. However, agents would always look to amend such clauses and maybe suggest their charges could not accept same. Either say no to a 'star' or increase the chance of relegation happening by not signing him. Maybe not but their was Def a change in mindset somewhere along the line Guess someone felt we had to be more careful when we first came up, then got complacent But think we know that now anyway Quote
freds dad Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Charlie Austin, £4m! And a 4 and a half year contract. Worlds gone mad! Quote
jagermoot Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Newcastle will be kickin themselves over that one Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Charlie Austin, £4m! QPR another club run as badly as us and heading in the same direction. When do they pay that FFP fine? Quote
Carlos Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 QPR are worst than us, just the tap is still dripping. Quote
Sweep Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 They don't go up this season and they'll be bust before Christmas. I've a mate who supports QPR and he sees them in our position if they don't go up this year Quote
Zico Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Newcastle will be kickin themselves over that one not if, like david gold suggests, he's on 100k a week and got dodgy knees http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3403830/West-Ham-owner-David-Gold-claims-Charlie-Austin-s-Southampton-deal-not-bargain-wages-100-000-week.html Quote
Pablo Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 He is on nowhere near £100k a week, Gold has always been a gobshite. Austin was on £35k a week at QPR, be surprised if he is now getting even £50k a week! Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Ameobi has gone! Not quite. He will be gone at the end of his contract, which is sometime this week. He'll still be available against Eastleigh tomorrow. Quote

Blondi Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 We might as well start Ameobi tomorrow, it doesn't matter if he get's injured. Quote
Sweep Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 He might not want to be cup tied in case one of the big boys comes in for him Quote

Sweep Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 He should have thought about that before the first game. I didn't even realise he came on as a sub. I must have been either drinking or not paying attention. Quote

Also Danny graham going Blackburn on loan, how the hell do they afford it on their crowds Sheffield Wednesday, Forest, Blackburn, Cardiff, QPR, Middlesborough, Derby, Hull, Fulham all spending massively above their income. The stakes to gamble on promotion are getting higher and higher, there's plenty will end up where we are given promotion failure without suicidal financial governance. It's a band wagon we should be relieved to get off. Quote

Morizio Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Ameobi going and maybe others to go as well. Certainly none coming in but the loan market opens in Feb. I think we can jump to March with fuck all incomings. Other teams will use this window to strengthen we will either stay the same or most likely weaken. We're financially fucked and can't attract good enough to compete at this level. We are going down. Quote
