Traf Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 We use Booths in Carnforth, Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale & Clitheroe whenever we're nearby. They're above all the majors in terms of quality generally. Quote

Whitestar Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Booth's is a nice shop, would do it regularly if one was local. The one in Ulverston is particularly nice, always has Wainwright on offer. Quote

Aldi do loads of Vegan food but I'm sure you already know this. Does your daughter like Burgers? If so I'd highly recommend the Linda McCartney burgers at Lidl. £1.19 for two, they're nice 👍 Quote
Traf Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 No, she doesn't like them. She eats vegan quorn, but only the big boys sell that. Quote

Spider Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 M&S - Uber Posh Booths/Waitrose - Posh Tesco/Asda/Morrisons - middle/lower middle class. Aldi/Lidl - lower class but used ‘ironically’ by Poshies Iceland/Farmfoods - Benefits Quote
Whitestar Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Have Jennings stopped doing Skeck lifter? That was a gorgeous beer. Quote

Worth checking their seasonal aisle, recently they've had mayo, horseradish, marie rose sauce and more, all excellent. Quote
Traf Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Yeah, we buy some vegan ice cream there, but HB also do some that's better & cheaper! Quote

I do much the same normally...substituting a few shops from your list. It's a tiny bit more hassle for cheaper and/or better stuff - I've done 'all in one shops' in the past and I'm always put out by the bill, Sainsburys is the worst culprit for this - exact same shit as elsewhere but always five pee here fifteen pee there dearer. Did my teacher training in The Lakes/Cumbria so Booths were often a stop to shop on the way home. They did the creme de la creme of Whoopsies - I was coming back with finest cheeses, smoked salmon, Gressingham Duck, larks tongues in aspic (ok, not that) - was belting. They were well ahead of the curve with craft ales as well. M&S, apart from their cooked chicken and certain crisps, I've always found shite and with rude clientele - their wine is especially biz, the stuff they used to include with their meal deal thing - jesus, I wouldn't have steeped my paintbrushes in it.
