Plus Madine and Heskey have been total failures

even heskey looked good against derby

which is why im not buying it that its all about shit players

he can still turn it around with what hes got

I don't claim to know much, I would of thought 4-4-2 best. Madine or Heskey by themselves doesn't seem to bring goals.

one swallow n all that, but qpr was madine up top and clayton and feeney not far from him

that worked better than owt else we've tried

4-5-1 with clayton behind madine

I agree with the poster formerly known as Mrs Freedman

He's got a tough hand

But with decent management it's enough for us to stop up

No game plan at allow any game this season. Even set pieces are shite and under rehearsed, who actually is our set piece taker now? No consistency in team selections or formation, and we are horrendously organised. These are all things the manager has to take account for, lennons panicked big time on this one. Gartside needs to get off his arse and find us a new manager asap. Both Norwich and brum did, our turn.

How many of you on here have played against a team that are simply better in every way?

Alex Ferguson (sorry) couldn't improve this squad

We're down to relying on luck

Yes he's started to panic and chopped and changed too much. Some of that has been enforced, some not. I think the signings he's made have generally been good - we were all raving about Derik (at centre back) and Prince a few weeks ago, Casado is a good un, Amos has all the attributes to be a top keeper - and it was a coup to get him. Not sure what's going on with Pisano and Wilson. Yes, he signed a couple more defenders than he perhaps needed, but I wonder if he only got Wilson in as another body in the summer on the cheap, had his doubts and added Pisano too. I don't know. I don't think that's the reason we're where we are though. The main reason is that when you halve your wage bill and you're scraping round picking up cast offs you end up with a forward line of Madine, Heskey and Ameobi - one who's had a great career but is now only good for 15 min cameos, another who's played a lot of games at the top level without ever being prolific and is on his way to retirement, and a third who's simply not good enough. No strikers equals big problems. And going through a transfer window allowing that to happen is purely down to Gartside and Davies.

Rubbish. Name me a better set of players from the bottom nine clubs. Spearing pratley, wheater, dervite, Davies are all good enough championship players. Organisation is the issue along with the fact our strikers are also very poor. Don't think Lennon has the managerial experience to turn this around.

Rubbish players are always going to struggle, but it must be even more of a struggle when you're managed by someone who is only in charge because the club as money problems, 1 win in 20 odd games and so many games 0 goals, would have gone weeks ago, if it wasn't for Bolton being in ruin.

Bolton as it's history that makes it great, what does it have going for it anymore?

I've lost all faith.

What little money we have got has been spunked on an unbalanced squad. We might be spending small amounts on players, but there are 5 or 6 signings that add nothing to the team which when combined could have contributed to a striker which is much needed. Even down to decisions such as Paul Rachubka, he is very likely to be on fuck all, maybe £1k or £2k a week, but what the fuck is the point? Amos will play every game this season, if he does get injured then play Fitzsimmons, then get an emergency loan. It's wasted cash.

Adding Heskey and Ameobi to Madine, why? They're the same player, I like Madine, he offers something, he won't score many goals but if you put the right players around him then he will contribute, adding Heskey and Ameobi to the squad isn't helping him out, if that's all that is available then leave it, give a couple of kids a chance. I know there's always the question of are they ready, but we're not in a financial position to not try them. Chuck a few in, play them at the right moments, fill them with confidence and see what they can do. If it doesn't work it doesn't work but it costs us nothing more. We've currently got 2 more players that don't work, but the difference is they are costing us money.

2 new right backs, neither play. Right back isn't a position where you need 2 specialists, if he'd got 1 then fine, play him and use Vela as cover if he gets injured, instead he's got 2 and decided he doesn't like either. I like Casado but Moxey is fine, if we're that short of cash then don't sign another left back, it was the least of our worries. Moxey 1st choice and Kellett back up.

4 first team centre backs, what the fuck is that all about? Wheater and Dervite are currently the starting pair, they were here in the summer, fine add 1 to the ranks because they are likely to get injured, but surely the 4th option should be youth, we've got Quade Taylor who has played a few times, if we get 2 centre backs injured then bring him in for a few games. He might not be the perfect option but we're fucking skint, he'll do for the probable short time, if any, that he would be required.

Keep things simple, choose a formation that suits the squad and stick to it, don't panic after a couple of bad results it's always going to happen in this league, if you stick to your beliefs and have a strong team morale then it will turn around, the worst thing you can do is start fucking about and drop players left right and centre. I really get the feeling that he falls out with players then tries to get them back in favour when he wants, if you do this enough times then players won't give everything for you.

Lastly, if you are short on quality as we are, especially going forward, then get the basics as good as they can be. Set pieces should be perfect, we've now got some big lads in the team who can cause problems if the set piece is right. Throw ins/corners/free kicks, we look like we make them up on the spot, there and then. It's bollocks, they're chances, you don't need a world class striker to cause problems and create chances at corners, just fucking practice them!

I know comparing with other clubs isn't always accurate, but what Gary Rowett has done at Birmingham shows what can be achieved in this league when the basics are done right and a team is set up well. They've got Paul Robinson at centre back! He was shit in his proper position at left back 3 years ago for us, there would be uproar if we started Robinson at centre back on the 1st day of this season. They've also got a lump up front, Donaldson is not a good player, he's nothing special but they play to his strengths. I looked at their starting line up the other week and there was no more than 3 players where I thought, yeah I'd have them in our team, but they are a good team because they know their jobs and they stick to it.

I've defended ED a lot because I genuinely believe he is a saint, he has given us so much and I don't think it is fair to turn on an old man now that he doesn't/can't throw £10m a season at us.

Gartside I couldn't give a fuck either way, I don't see what changing him does but he does have to take the shit as the chairman of what is a failing plc.

I don't buy into the fact that Lennon is in an impossible job though, he has to take a lot of the blame for the shit we are in. I'd rather him turn it round than be sacked, but if he went tomorrow I would be far less bothered than I would have been 2 months ago.
