Doesn’t mean owt.  One of the world’s biggest anti-vax, anti-science fruit cakes was Dr Andrew Wakefield.  Now disgraced and discredited. Loons everywhere.

Of course it does, when we had a government pushing for everyone to get jabbed then the very people who are going to do the jabbing are telling you it’s going to kill you or make you grow another head. Kent is right in what he said when you have Trump speaking out against science but it doesn’t help when our own are doing it as well.

During the pandemic as the virus was better understood the advice on how to react to it changed, that is how science works.

But the change is based on scientific evidence as you say.

Woman on radio just said she would not take medical advice off Trump anymore than she would take advice off Noel Edmunds on tampons.

Edmonds is a cunt though so he might know a bit

It’s really not. I think everyone is in agreement that Trumps and RFK claims aren’t going to help anyone. It doesn’t help when we have our own at it though. Who are you likely to get medical advice from, Trump or someone working for the NHS?

Who in the NHS was saying the COVID jab was going to kill you?

There were loads at it. Others saying it will cause you blood clots, you’re going to have heart attacks, long term illness etc.

This has to be a wind up. Man Utd are going to hold a celebration for Charlie Kirk, a bigot, racist, so called christian that encouraged gun culture, was against abortion. and the idiot president Trump's biggest fan. Unbelievable.

This again isn’t defending him but during Covid didn’t we have some of our own NHS lot, Drs, nurses, scientists etc speaking out against the covid vaccine?

Yes. Vaccine hesitancy is more common that you might imagine amongst health care professionals.

They're human beings and susceptible to conspiracy theories and junk science in just the same way that any member of the public might be (although perhaps a bit more protected because they should have at least a rudimentary understanding of immunology). But they do exist and were and remain very much still in the minority. And their views don't stand up to scrutiny when challenged.

Having said that, I've still never met a Doctor, Nurse or other Health Care Professional that has refused to give a vaccine because of a moral or scientific objection to it. The overwhelming majority understand that they are perhaps the greatest public health benefit we've ever developed (with the possible exception of sanitation and clean drinking water).

To be fair, their players knelt for a convicted amercian drug dealer, so I'm not remotely surprised.

So during Covid when Trump was backing the vaccine and the dr you know wasn’t, who was you believing?

That's encouraging to hear. Although sadly - the decision whether to have (or not have) a vaccine is becoming more of a political one for some people. And is based on their voting intention - rather than what the data is telling us.

The difference between me and someone like RFK JR is that if a large scale meta analysis which was well designed demonstrated that there was a causal effect between a particular vaccine and a particular condition (and crucially) that that risk outweighed the benefit - than I'd change my position. What people like Trump and RFK JR so is begin with a conclusion - and then try to find some information that seems to support their position (while ignoring all the studies that don't).

It's a moronic position to take - and it's moronic no matter what side of the political divide the person is on that is doing it!

Wasn't Trump also advocating injecting bleach?

Not really.

He was doing what he does, aimlessly rambling/thinking out loud without due consideration as to how any comments would be interpreted.

He tends to give scant regard to any consequences- he's not exactly a consummate politician!

He didn't actually say "do it"; but of course that is how it was inevitably going to be portrayed.

Hmmm.  Agreed he literally didn’t say “go and inject yourselves with bleach” ….. but very little wriggle room here to suggest anything other that he seriously thought it could be a viable/good idea.
