Goal fest at the Macron.

6-6 draw.

They play in the turd brown Admiral away strip but are rattled with our comeback, all six scored by Peter Beardsley.

We'd be some side if the rest of the team were struggling with their distribution as much as he does.  On a different note, his tackle in the box in the first half was sublime.

  • Amen - off loading Trotter in January would be part of my master plan to free up funds if I was PP. Surely some clueless Championship side want to take a punt on him?

  • Dervite and Moxey should be on any out-going list before Trotter. Anyway there is no guarantee Thorpe will be here beyond January and we may need Trotter.

Sounded like we hung in there fuck me.

Saying that it should've been over and done with.

We can't keep relying on Clough

wouldnt say we are relying on him, had a more convincing win on sat and he didn't do much.

Need someone who can take these chances

Long way to go yet - nervous as fuck

We didn't create any chances a so called goal scorer would have taken

The keeper made one or 2 great saves and we had a few efforts from long distance but we didn't miss any one on one clear cut chances.

It's awesome winning but bit gutting that the others around us are too, Bury tossers.

9 points clear of 7th place, 2 games h2h vs Scunthorpe might decide the title.

That Clough chance where he played it at the keeper and the Ameobi one he didn't catch cleanly. They both are finished by a McGinlay type

Anyway, its wins like that which take you up

Clough a class above; if he goes in Jan we are in bother

Spearing and Vela absolutely worked their nads off

Their keeper Burge was v good

Oh and it's nearly 10:20pm and there was never more than 10k actually here tonight and it's gridlocked. No wonder folks don't bother

Win, clean sheet, job done move on.

2nd half was tough going.

Sordell is still wank, even at this level, the bog eyed cunt.

Good win, I'd take any win against them just to soothe that 5-1 out of my system from 98'

That was tough, .

Must be parking in the wrong spot. We left dead on the final whistle, back in the car outside Homebase for 10pm and at home in Leigh for 10.20pm, sorted.

Should have been 3 or 4 up by half-time and done and dusted but we made proper hard work of it by the end. Christ knows why we resorted to just booting the ball all over the place when in the first half we'd done a cracking job of dictating the pace of the game just by knocking it about and letting Coventry chase it. That said, they had more of a threat going forward than Millwall did on Saturday.

Win's a win anyroad.

Entertainment value 0/10. Miserable, cold, midweek night

Satisfaction value 10/10. Cunthopes and Sheff U win so still up with the leaders

Ground out a win and 3 points on a shit night. That sort of thing wins you the league eventually

Not saying it necessarily will like, but it's a miles better feeling than midweek matches over the last few years

Onwards with 3 points in the bag will do me

We were miles better than them first half and should've been more than one up.

Second half they were the better team but we probably had the best chance when Taylor set Henry up and Clough also hitting the post.

Two clean sheets without Wheater now.

Definitely two very different halves

Thought first was as impressive as Saturday

Only downside moaning buggers wanting it hoofed

Second half started very sloppy and once Clough free kick didn't go in we road our luck

On the plus side, some good saves and brave blocks

Motm, Vela- not least cos he was still putting it in right at the end, when he was needed

All wins are good wins, and clean sheets are always good, but this sitting back and letting the opposition come at us last 15 will end up biting us in the arse.

If your 3-0 up like Port Vale, then fair enough, but not when your one nil up. Did the same against Grimsby. Sooner or later it'll be a 90th minute equaliser because we stop closing down the ball and let the opposition cross too many balls into the box. It's great that we have a solid defence but there's no need to be under that pressure at the end.

Vela outstanding tonight he might be a player never thought I'd say that. We have the look of champions we will grind past Scunthorpe and Sheff U mark my words. ????

A grind second half after we should have put it to bed by halftime (again). Their keeper excellent, really good kicker as well as top saves. The one off Clough free kick was top class, it goes in we win comfy, it didn't and last 20 were hard graft. He was as slippery and sharp as ever tonight, was Clough, but should have put the one away just before not time.

It's a long haul this season, these sorts of wins are what we'll look back on with more pleasure if we go up.

Too many on tonight who were 'nervous as fuck' too soon, we'll have plenty more nights like this, as will our rivals. Sheff U have struggled to beat 9 men on Sat and Bury tonight. If we keep our nerve in the stands it'll help them do it on the pitch.

We started brilliantly, playing some cracking football at times. don't know what was said at half time but we came out like a different side. Beevers seemed to lose his head for a period too. Josh vela outstanding. In the first half clough, vela and sameobi looked very dangerous. We need to start putting teams away though or we're going to come a cropper. As already said though a wins a win!

Just got back in, shitty cold wet weather.

A win is a win but fucking hell we made that hard work. They were there for a fucking hammering.

Like someone has said......!st half we passed Coventry out of the game, but 2nd half we resorted to long ball stuff that didn't work at all & Coventry became a bit of a threat ( & not the worst team we've played this season ) making the last 10 minutes a bit nervy.

But.....the clean sheets are coming in droves. 3points. Hurrah again.

We're in the race.

Come on Whites.

Thought Beevers got a knock that took it out of him a bit. First half we were as good as i have seen so can't see why someone would give 0/10 for entertainment for whole match! Second half we lost our shape and everything really. One of those Clough chances and then the Henry one could have made it safe but thank God sat through that second half for 3 points and we didn't throw it away

Chris Taylor

He really needs to get that treacle taken from off his boots

I reckon my Dad would give him a good race

9 times out of 10 that madine chance goes in and it's a great instinctive flick or shot or whatever touch he got on it, either way it was a great save

Thst said 9/10 spearing doesn't inadvertently get his face in the way of that coventry effort and it's 1-1

I don't care what anyone says, that corner on 90 mins where he plays it short and it goes out for a throw-in is the best thing I've ever seen.

First half saw some proper entertainment, great moves, flowing football, second half, what the fuck did they put in their cuppas? nytol would be my guess, piss poor and if Coventry had a decent striker we'd have lost that, still has as been said a wins a win, but we will come unstuck against better strikers unless we go for the jugular especially at home, Spearing mom by a country mile.

Thought at half time that as we hadn't scored the goals that first half performance deserved we would end up being nervy. That's a familiar story for us but as others have said a win is a win and I was more than delighted to applaud them off at the end. Clough is miles off the finished article but showed 2 moments of brilliance. Should have scored that chance that fell to him after Madine's fresh air kick. Much as Madine is limited I am really willing him to score some kind of goal - think he deserves that.

They pressed us very well in the second half and we really struggled with it, that was the difference. I thought Derik was the pick of ours tonight, he defended well but just needs to work on his distribution. Having said that, the ball was coming back very quickly in the second half and I don't blame him for going long
