I’ve never seen this lad but I have seen Charlie Kelman, Ali Jatta and Macca Langstaff banging in goals regularly in L1 and none of them would cost anywhere near £1m so I’m tempted to ask why we don’t go for proven over untested?

Only Kelman has played in League 1 and I think he'd cost more than a million.

So that leaves the other two proven strikers you mention who are totally unproven at our level.

Almost certain he’s a striker, never heard of him being referred to as a #10 before. Plays as an out and out number 9 whenever I’ve seen him. He’d be a brilliant striker for us but far too expensive and he showed last season he is too good for League One.

Well I'll just shut up then :D

Always had him down as being more of a 10 than out and out.

This collection of goals suggests otherwise ha

He's fucking class whatever he is. No idea why he's in the conversation no way he's playing league 1 next season.

Haha yeah I totally agree mate, he’s a brilliant player. Would be a dream signing for us but probably not a realistic one.
Then again Plymouth have apparently put in a couple of bids for him.

If we did have a spare £2m+ lying around I’d definitely be asking the question but I suspect he’d want to test himself in the Championship this season.

We do have a nice history with celtic for an unknown (at the time) striker.

Not sure 77 games for Motherwell and 108 games for Celtic prior to joining us quite qualifies Walker as unknown!

Just spotted this on Twitter, probably crap. The lad is 6'4 and a defensive midfielder apparently .

Bolton Wanderers are targeting Jesper Ceesay from IFK Norrköping. According to Sportsbldet, the League One club has made initial contact regarding a possible transfer. Talks have already taken place with his representatives. A summer move to England is now possible.

People saying if we have ambition we need to pay the money for the Celtic lad are the same people who moan about the money we wasted on Randel.

How on earth do you know how much they would cost?

Absolute baloney that.

Clubs can ask what they want, and others can offer what they want. Only the agreed selling price reflects a players value at the point of transfer, unless it's a "soon to be out of contract" job.

We've just sold Collins for not far off a million, and he's older than this lad we have supposedly made an offer for.

Kelman was on loan, I’d assumed the same here and Langstaff went to Millwall for £700k so I’d imagine they’d take less if they wanted rid. A figure of £700k was also indicated as an offer we made to Notts County for Jatta so not so much baloney fella.

To be fair they were just some bad examples.

Michael Obafemi joined Championship Swansea City from Premier League Southampton for £1.5 million in 2021-22 having played 32 games (inc subs) in the Premier League. We're talking about playing £1 million for someone who played in the equivalent of the National League for 1 season. Just seems crazy.

Aye I get all that. I just think the bargain find exists less and less these days.

Problem I have is I genuinely know none of the players we sign anymore probably outside of Mcatee and Collins as we’d seen them v us. I assume most are in the same boat.

The issue with Randall was we didn't need another player of his position

Now we've sold Collins we need someone to play out wide, if not two

Just spoken to my IFK Norroping mate who rates him highly and fully expects him to play in the premier league at some point

Just to note, he's available for free in 2 days.

I'm not convinced you need to be spending tons in transfers to get the best.

Our best singings in the last 5 years have been free or very close to (under 100k).

And the same people who said we should live within our means when we went bust.

Great at spending other peoples money.

I think most sensible folk realise we’ve thrown big money at getting out of division 3. I’ve never known anything like it.

Played 59 games in 3 seasons.    This is not gonna go down well and likely cause 5 pages of discussion

I think Randell could play as winger he as quick feet and a good passer and crosser of a ball his weakness is tackling but playing as a winger he wouldn’t be in the thick of the midfield as for his defensive duties he just needs to be a pest.

It's not for me

We've been down this route before of signing younger players from the lower leagues, hoping they could make the step up and it didn't work, It played a big part in us getting relegated from the Premier League. We spent about £20 million building a Championship squad while still being in the Premier League.

Danny Shittu, Marvin Sordell, Mark Connolly, Sam Ricketts, Tyrone Mears, David N'Gog, the list is nearly endless.

Not to say it wont work this time but we need some experience and we don't have it.

I for one hope i never have to see Randell playing for us ever again

He’s not been given a chance he came at the wrong time but I still think he could turn out to be a good signing given the chance., game of opinions.

Aye, just not out wide

But SS has got a job on with him

He epitomises everything SS hated about us towards the end of season

No balls, no bravery, no risk, bit willing to get stuck in etc

I think being a winger involves more than being a pest, I honestly can not imagine a player ever who has looked less like a winger in my life.

Appreciate will now get a list of players that could be worse
