July 30, 20251 yr I love Dempsey one of my favourite players and want it to work for him so much. But we need a captain who's most likely going to stay fit. The problem in the past with Jones, Santos and then even Toal as captains is they were constantly getting injured. Can't guarantee anything. July 30, 20251 yr Schuey mentioned a “leadership group” wherein several players take on the role with one selected as spokesman/representative. Personally I like this approach of having “leaders all over the pitch”. It doesn’t really matter who is the official captain as long as the group work together to agree what needs to be done and they all take responsibility to ensure it happens. Some teams in Europe formalise it by appointing a captain, vice captain, 3rd captain and 4th captain but I don’t think it’s necessary to go that far as long as the group’s authority is recognised.
