We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Used to know a United fan from Atherton who was known as cock and ball a long time back ha.

I'll use the term for all United fans I encounter in Atherton from today

I also don't see wages for an assistant coach as being as high as might be anticipated amongst fans.

Dress it up how you want, but when he says a keeper is not a priority with a team with a limited budget.....It is we cannot afford a keeper

That was at the week-end....Monday another backroom coach comes in

May be the thinking is say we can’t afford a keeper and we already have 4 is to bring a coach in to help improve everyone it’s cheaper option

Last 4 pages of utter drivel. Please can people check the heading before spouting absolute shite. Gone to the dogs this place.

Surely the Transfer Gossip thread of all places is a safe space for spouting shite

Assuming Taylor was fit and available (he may not have been as per @Dr. Feelgood 's post), then it comes across the only writing off and "worst signing ever" viewpoint was that of the manager. As fans we hardly saw him to judge, and if he had a poor 20 minutes v Port Vale reserves we as fans put 2 and 2 together and decided he must be terrible.

But "needs to be given a chance" can be turned round as being indecisive, the common theme with GJ, Tutu and Dempsey was that they were judged as not good enough for the championship, they certainly weren't given a chance to prove it, the concensus was that we decisively released them to make room for others. So why would we give a chance to Taylor in a division above the one that he hasn't proved himself? That takes up a squad place and salary that we weren't prepared to give to 3 proven, influential players.

Just playing devil's advocate here, good luck to Taylor wherever he plays this season, but its not as simple as just giving everyone a chance, decisions have to be made or we're stuck with a L1 squad.

Have you seen some of the shit he gets given online? He's the latest in a long line of players being completely written off before they're given a proper run. Like Dalby, like Cissoko, like Santos to name just a few off the top of my head. A manager not playing someone is not him saying that they're the worst signing ever. A manager bombing someone out on loan or coming to an agreement to cancel their contract might be.

And I certainly dont see giving a player who you've invested money in a clean slate to prove themselves over the course of another pre-season as indecisive. Just feels like argument for arguments sake, that.

Who knows, maybe we accept the first/any reasonable bid that comes in for him. Or maybe he does enough to show he's worth sticking by.

(I also don't think Tutu not playing for us this season has anything to do with us judging him as not good enough for the Championship.)

We probably need a definition of argument compared to discussion and chat. I just like a chat and discussion, like a few others on here, I can't recall ever wanting an argument with anyone either on here or elsewhere. We'll leave it there as folk are getting brassed off at the non-transfer talk on the transfer thread, which is fair enough, we move on.

Just on the coachgate scenario.

It's highly probably that the club have separately agreed budgets for playing and coaching staff.

I'd be very surprised if they've turned down a decent player to make space/money for this coach.

Spot on.

Could it not just be a simple case of Andy Taylor out (albeit from a role that doesn’t exist anymore) and Rob Kelly in?

Regardless as to whether that’s the case or not, as most of us seem to be of the opinion, this shouldn’t have anything to do with the player budget.

There are no separate budgets anymore for playing staff and backroom staff. The club has a total spend now they have to meet each year.

Every employee extra will impact the playing squad that is the reality

Yes absolutely. But let's not let that get in the way of a good old fashioned WW tantrum! 😁

I'm sure they do have a total spend. If you're talking about EFL rules. And I'm sure they will have budgeted for how much of that total spend they use on coaching/playing staff.

Oh no we don't!

Totally untrue.

The number of players over the years who the twitterati have written off to be absolute dog shit, no hopers, worst signings ever - that then turn out to be at the very least solid servants, all the way up to being club legends - is mad.

One of them scored a bicycle kick at Wembley just a few weeks ago ffs. Another went from figure of utter ridicule to being compared with Okocha within the space of weeks.

Taylor was very poor in his brief few appearances (though did look okay in pre season) but he may come good over time. Who knows, maybe he won't. Needs to be given a chance though.

Most likely is we're getting him into fitness to be sale able. Makes sense rather than casting him into the reserves

I'd love to take us all back to the transfer stuff.

Unfortunately, I've heard precisely nothing since last week, genuinely starting to get a bit concerned at our lack of budget and active deals.

The Millwall interest in Kenny is real and may well price us out. Theo Bair is a name I heard a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard since if it is actually done now, last I'd seen we were waiting on him to decide if he wanted to come here on loan.

Nowt, it's done voluntarily. He's a driving instructor outside of the costume

Ben Broggio, Villa winger being linked. Only 19. On loan in Scotland last season and a Belgian.

Do you know him?

If so tell him to keep up the good work, he's fucking brilliant 😃
